Life of Pi Returns to Sheffield 🚣 🐅
After a hugely successful stint on the West End and Broadway, Life of Pi returns to Sheffield where it debuted in 2019
A crowd gathered outside the Crucible Theatre to welcome back and meet Richard Parker. The puppet tiger was manned by three actors who bought the animal to life, with uncanny cat-like movements and roars.
During the Q&A, prouder Simon Friend spoke of how proud he was to be part of the innovation of the play. So far, Life of Pi has received five Olivier awards, three Tony awards and scores of five-star reviews. The Journey began in 2015 when Simon conceived the idea to turn Yann Martel’s best-selling novel and blockbuster Hollywood film into a stage production. After six months of negotiations, work began on this one-of-a-kind theatrical experience. Simon said that working with Sheffield Theatres in the early stages of production was joyous as all the crew were so welcoming and hospitable.

Since 1874, a siren has sounded every day in the city centre at 1pm. The Time Signal was originally intended as a reliable way for workers in the city to be aware of the time as the signal was linked to Greenwich. The siren is located by the entrance to HL Brown - have you ever heard it?
Don’t you think it’s crazy that we have a National Park on our doorstep 🤪📸 Sometimes it’s so easy to forget, but as the weather gets nicer, let’s make the effort to soak it in 😍 Video by c.zack.h (Instagram) 🎥
Sheffield Botanical and Horticultural Society was formed in 1833 to create a botanical garden. In 1834 18 acres of farmland was bought to create the botanical gardens - a competition held for the design was won by Robert Marnock who began work in the spring of 1834 ✨
