You can benefit from all my 37 years of experience with out having to pay for all the overheads normally associated with large facilities, that is why in April 2000 I started a new, convenient and cost effective approach to corporate and broadcast post production work - namely a mobile editing service. You now have the choose of a Adobe creative suite, Final Cut Pro or Avid Media Composer, editin

g software. I can bring the edit to you instead of you having to travel to the edit. On the other hand, if you prefer to be away from your office for this kind of work then you can edit in my large comfortable log cabin located behind my home in Southcote Reading. Mobile Video Editing was formed in April 2000 by Jonathan Griffiths, who for the previous 10 years was a senior editor and a major shareholder at Headline Video Facilities, Readings premiere facilities company. We had a large client base from many different market sectors including broadcast, motor industry, pharmaceuticals, and sell through video and many more. I worked closely with a number of clients as their preferred editor having formed a good working and personal relationship with many of them. Prior to that I joined The Arts Channel in September 1985, first as a technical trainee in editing, camera work and sound recording and from April 1986 as staff editor. My position as staff editor involved being responsible for all on-line and off-line editing together with the associated engineering alignments and a large proportion of the sound mixing. Some examples of the type of productions were drama, classical and jazz concerts, documentaries, commercials plus the occasional industrial video. Since forming Mobile Video Editing I have worked on a wide verity of programmes.

I have now taken the decision to close Mobile Video Editing, I may still do the odd job if it really appeals to me or for family and friends.

Some of you may know I have gone back to working as a gardener/caretaker which is how I started my working life and am enjoying not have the hassle of running a business.

I'd like to thank everyone I have had the pleasure in working with over the last 37 years and wish you all well.

Regards

Jonathan

officially today is the 23rd anniversary of Mobile Video Editing but it's been more than a year since last paying job, I am not expecting that to change and I'm actually quite alright with that.

Life is so much more relaxed, far less stress and enjoying working part time at the school, winding down to retirement.

31/03/2023

I am now only available Fridays and Saturdays at home office, due to working else where Monday to Thursday.

31/12/2022

Happy New Year, hope 2023 is a good one for everyone.

18/12/2022

Wishing you all a merry Christmas and a prosperous new year ahead.

37 years ago today since started at The Arts Channel (not the one on sky now) we were based in Ebbw Vale in South Wales and one of the early cable and satellite channels.

I know Andrew Chorlton is still in the business but wonder where everyone else is now and what they are doing.

07/08/2022

Mobile Video Editing now only open evenings and weekends to fit round my day job at least until things pick up again.

I am also no longer offering mobile editing service just working at 53 Winser Drive.

Sadly no paying jobs since this, a year ago today, just few freebies for family & friends and couple of my own projects.

But can't grumble it's been an amazing 37 years since first started as a trainee at The Arts Channel, then 11 years at ENG/Headline video facilities before going freelance in 2000.

So what ever the future holds I am grateful for all the amazing people I have had the pleasure of working for and with.

37 years of experience and still learning.

37 years of experience and still learning.

A giant ship's engine broke down and no one could repair it, so they took it to a Mechanical Engineer with over 40 years of experience.

He inspected the engine very carefully, from top to bottom. After seeing everything, the engineer unloaded the bag and pulled out a small hammer.

He knocked something gently. Soon, the engine came to life again. The engine has been fixed!

7 days later the engineer mentioned that the total cost of repairing the giant ship was $ 10,000 to the ship owner

"What ?!" said the owner.
"You did almost nothing. Give us a detailed bill."

The answer is simple:
Tap with a hammer: $ 2
Know where to knock & how much to knock: $ 9,998

Lessons to Learn

The importance of appreciating one's expertise and experience ... Until
The words "it's easy" and "that's all", should be set aside. Why? Because maybe the experience is the result of struggles, experiments and even tears.

Like the picture above:
If i do a job in 30 minutes it's because i spent 10 years learning how to do that in 30 minutes. You owe me for the years, not the minutes.

(If I can finish a job in 30 minutes, it's because I spent 10 years learning how to do it in 30 minutes. You paid me for those 10 years, not 30 minutes).

This sentence reminds me of someone’s advice on respecting and wisely respecting the work of others.

There I also learned to see people ...
When they do not respect others, at the same time he has humbled himself.

Expertise and experience, that's expensive.
Unfortunately, our people still look down on that.

Well today it’s 22 years since Mobile Video Editing officially started, and I wonder who much longer I will keep it going, as in the last year I have only had one paying job plus a few things for friends.

But I still remind myself how lucky I am to have been in this industry for the last 37 years, and all the people I have met along the way.

So for now I will keep it going even if only part time round the job I have now taken.

28/12/2021

Well that's the tax return completed, doesn't make great reading but at least I made a profit and there are many more people in a worse position.

Lets hope things start to pick up again in 2022 and I can get back to editing full time again.

22/12/2021

Well 2021 is nearly behind us and I don't think any of us thought it would be half as tough as it turned out to be.

It has meant a few changes for me mainly after twenty one years of working from home, I am now working at Wren School and only editing part time, hopefully this won't be a permanent thing.

I would like to wish you all a Happy Christmas and hope 2022 is kinder to us all.

17/12/2021

Another difficult year is nearly behind us, here is hoping 2022 is better for everyone.
Here is our Christmas 2021 animation for you to enjoy

Not going with the usual branded cards this year, as wanted more environmental option (made from 100% recycled or sustainable material) plus wanted to support Woodland trust.

09/06/2021

Great to be working at Take One Business Communications again, first time using Avid Media Composer since August 2019 but just like when seeing an old friend after few minutes it was like never being apart.

06/04/2021

Mobile Video Editing officially started 21 years ago today even though I had been setting it up for months before hand.

It’s nearly 36 years since I started at the Arts Channel, and then spending an amazing 11 years at ENG/Headline, I am grateful for everyone I have had the pleasure of working with and for, many of which I am happy to now call friends.

So even though the future is still a little uncertain what ever it brings I will consider myself very lucky.

Thank you.

I'm walking 11,000 steps a day throughout March for Prostate Cancer UK. Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed caner in the UK, killing one man every 45 minutes. It's killing dads, partners, sons, brothers, granddads, uncles and mates. But it doesn't have to be that way. I'm raising money to help fund lifesaving research for men and their families affected by prostate cancer.

There is still time to sponsor me to help find a cure at https://marchthemonth.prostatecanceruk.org/fundraising/joes-march-in-march-to-fight-prostate-cancer

When the pandemic is all over, we should plant trees to create Covid memorial woods. These could be all around the country, one tree for every person who has died as a lasting legacy to them and as a place for people who have been affected by their loss to go to and reflect.

We are going to need to get the government, councils and organisations like the woodland trust, wildlife trust and the national parks on board with this to ensure it is done correctly and to find the land to create them.

We should ensure that the trees that are planted are native and already found in the area, so that they will give the most benefit to local wildlife, these woods will be a great start to help to reverse global warming and help us save the planet.

Please share and write to your MP or the PM and let’s make this go viral and maybe other countries will take up the idea and we can have a green pandemic.
