My name is Richard Powell, (more widely known among friends as Rich P), I’m one half of Meme (Electronic music events team). I’ve been fully active on the music scene for many years. So it became a natural progression to move these things forward…

Bringing all experiences and ideas to the mix, I’ve decided to create and put together two exciting new projects. CForm Record Label and Connect4Music Radio. All about the good stuff. Expression, creativity, vibes and bringing like minded people together.

Building on the Meme shows and events, where (alongside Julian Zizko), we developed a decent reputation for bringing quality events and parties, including those held at ‘Moog’, ‘The Bodega’, ‘Suede Bar’ and ‘The Angel’, along with a very successful Hockley Hustle event. We also hosted monthly radio shows, one of which on the sadly discontinued & sorely missed (www.myhouseyourhouse.net and Meme Sessions at http://www.ng-digital.co.uk/)… I have also collaborated & come together with the BigFaces (Jodie Parker & Coxie), on a highly reputed party at The Bohunk Institute. An event which honoured the Music Exchange. (A record shop now gone from these parts, but not from our hearts). Then further events with them at Bar Eleven, Rough Trade and the I-Club.

The idea here is a progression on the same ideology – Putting together regular treats and collaborating with some of the best creative talent. Including DJ’s/artists from the local underground electronic music scene. Bringing you live performances, along with the regular radio show DJ sets, (where we’ll be digging into our crates and putting together a blended collection of our fav’s, old and new). Demonstrating skills and expressing a vibe...

Before all this began though, my story starts in the mid 90’s with Quadrant Sound System. ‘Quadrant’ was born out of good friends who shared a love for music, especially all things electronic. This lead to wonderful collaborations and experiences, alongside opportunities to play at many various events across England and Europe, either with Quadrant or as a guest DJ. Appearing alongside; Chris Duckenfield, Dave Clarke, Luke Solomon, Charles Webster, Schmoov, Ralph Lawson, and Pepe Braddock, among others. I’ve also had the privilege to spin tunes at Smokescreen and DiY parties too.

All of which brought together a decision to explore music further. So I purchased some studio gear and together with some friends from ‘Smokescreen’, set up a recording studio in Nottingham at the brilliant and highly regarded ‘Rubber Biscuit’ studio. Ever since then I have been developing my trade. Enough so, that I decided to start putting out my own productions, either through ‘Connect for Music’ (a label he set up himself), or released through other projects. You’ll more likely find me under my aliases, ‘Joseki’ & ‘i-level’. Collaborations with Damien Bailey (Babble/Special Interest), have brought some well received releases too, on American label ‘Tango’, and more recently on Andy Riley and Simon ‘Da Sunlounge’ Newby’s label, ‘Borrowed’. There has also been a release with Ben Leary, called ‘Siris’, was also well supported and played out by Richie Hawtin & Marco Corola, plus a track with Mark PF which appeared on BBC Radio & Radio 1 extra.

Which pretty much ties all the story together and into this present moment... & why this connection is happening right now.
