BOWERS & WILKINS x 007

2022 marks 60 years of the James Bond film series. To celebrate the integral contribution that music has made to the story of James Bond, Bowers & Wilkins have partnered with @007 to create a special-edition range of their stunning Px8 wireless headphones.

And we got to take these beauties into the studio. It was suitably hush-hush - we could have told you but, well, you know what would have happened...!

C R E A T I V E • C I R C L E
Pumped to be joining the Creative Circle Awards Gold Jury again this year. The first round of judging kicked off last week, and there have been some incredible entries (but that's all I'm allowed to say about that!)

What I love about the Creative Circle awards over others is that it's all about the creative IDEA. Not the results or the 'effectiveness' for the brand, sales made or w***y brand recall metrics: the idea pure and simple. And, trust me, the debates in the jury room reflect how subjective this can be..!

The other thing I love is that the first rounds are judged by over 800 creatives, so no one person playing God, it's a proper subjective approach to how far you can push creative thinking. And that's really exciting.

Thanks for having me back!

IWD 2022 • Celebrate International Women's Day with and .me at this FREE event.

Jane Evans is an absolute POWERHOUSE and captivating to listen to. She is many things: a creative director, mother, activist, author and changemaker.

After being at the pointy end of ageism, she realised that there is a great gap in the mainstream representation of women: the midlife woman is missing. We are seeing small changes in this area, but not enough.

I'll be hosting a fireside chat with Jane to talk about Unleashing the Power of the Midlife Woman - a rallying cry for ALL women, not just those 45+.

WORLD • BOOK • DAY
For World Book Day 2022 share some of their favourite books from their catalogue, including Pie & Mash London by Jake Green.

This is Jake Green’s definitive and comprehensive Pie & Mash almanac. Our third edition features all 53 known Pie & Mash shops in London, including some which have closed since the project started. A stunning slice of history.

We love this book because it reaches every corner of the globe celebrating a very specific London tradition - the broader project includes a permanent exhibition and film.

In this book photographer, Rinchen Ato shares a selection of 20 years of tenderly documented life in the Kham region of Tibet. A very limited edition of 50 books from this elegant project.

WORLD • BOOK • DAY
To celebrate World Book Day 2022, we asked the good people at indie art books publishers, , to share some of their favourite books from their catalogue. Kicking off with Beber Mi Sudor: Coffee Colombia by Jake Green.

Beber Mi Sudor translates as Drink My Sweat. The book celebrates Colombia’s specialty coffee growing and processing, local culture and epic landscape.

The art direction for this book by Melanie Mues inspired an informal loose binding, full of colour and emotion which gives you an immersive feeling of being on the journey of coffee in Colombia.

It was world chocolate day yesterday (apparently), but I was too busy EATING chocolate in celebration and forgot to post about it.

As a tasty treat, here's a throwback to working with beautiful artisan chocolatiers a little while back. They handcraft small-batch chocolate loveliness in their North London kitchens. Prepare to get huuungry!

B T S

The brief from the creative director was 'bokeh lighting effect' fading off into the distance as the sun sets. But with just 2 weeks from brief to shoot, with 4 talent and 5 locations to cover over a 14-hour day, we didn't have the luxury of a long location search.

The CD and I jumped on bikes and traversed what felt like every inch of the city, but nowhere fulfilled the vision in our heads.

We looked at rooftop bars, hotels and office blocks, pulling in favours from the depths of our black books. To no avail. And every day the clock was ticking.

By a complete chance my PA booked a hotel room as our unit base one street away from my house. I never knew it was there. Or that it had a balcony!

In the end, it was a cloudy night, so there was no dramatic sunset - we scrapped all plans of heading into the city. My husband brought our garden lights round in a carrier bag (the glamour) and we go to work creating our own set on the rooftop terrace of a north London pub.

And you know what, I think what we created was really, really beautiful!

Thank you to the stellar team who worked tirelessly to bring this gorgeous brief to life:

• Get a mortgage and rent out the spare room. It is a good investment, not a hindrance, and it will help pay for all that travelling you do and the freedom you love.

• Find a mentor, a female who can help guide and captivate that creativity, as well as to learn some business skills from.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
• Stop feeling guilty. Put yourself first and say 'no' to people who suck your energy and waste your time... you cannot please everyone and your instincts are more solid than you think.

• Buy a bitcoin (or two) NOW!

• Stop buying low fat foods, they don't work for you and you are sexy and feminine. Be confident and believe it.

• Stop trying to please your Dad: please yourself, and reach out to your Mum more.

• Read all those bloody books you keep buying and then pass them on so that you are not trying to offload them at 40!

• Get your driving licence and buy a van, because you move a hec of a lot and you have a lot of s**t!

• Don't be afraid of setting up your own business, you have great ideas and with some business sense and guidance, you can really achieve it.

• Cut down on the 24hr shift work and go raving with your friends more.

• Get some decks and be your own DJ, music makes you happier than you know.

LE TOUR DE FRANCE
Today is Stage 7 of the 2021 Tour de France and it's a biggie. Vierzon to le Creusot: a gruelling 249.1km and one of the longest stages in 21 years.

To celebrate the might sport of cycling, we asked Andy Donohoe to share some of his favourite images from his archives.

Andy is a lifestyle photographer, whose work is characterised by the beauty of natural light. Reflecting his love of the great outdoors, and sports like cycling and climbing, his images tell stories about adventure while capturing the calm that comes with being absorbed in the moment. These days he mostly seems to shoot cycling!

Editing a killer portfolio that not only flows but, crucially, converts: a free event with photography consultant, editor and creative mentor, Lu Bowan, for Wisern.me.

The creative portfolio is arguably one of the most important marketing assets you will create as a commercial photographer, and yet can be the most overwhelming to tackle.

On Friday 16th July I'll be interviewing the mighty Lu Bowan to shed some light on the editing process. Over 20 years in the creative industry, she has seen a lot of portfolios: the good, the bad, the ugly and the blow-your-socks-off kind of incredible. And I have 30 minutes to try to extract all the pro tips on how to tailor a book that tells the right story for your target clients.

Join us over Zoom: 12:30pm, Friday 16th July.

M E N T O R I N G
Last year I worked with over 60 professional creatives to support their career development.

Mentoring has always been a part of my life but the pandemic forced me to prioritise it. Lockdown kickstarted questions for so many of us: what do I want, am I happy here and now, is this where I thought I would be?

And, as a result, SO MANY people began to plan to pivot, to clairfy their goals or reframe their own story - and were actively looking for help.

I know my understanding and experience of how commercial campaigns are brought to life - from initial brief, to ideation to production and delivery - is both rare and valuable. Having worked IN ad agencies and as a supplier to them gives me a unique ability to demystify the process.

But then some questions came up that I wasn't best placed to answer, so I opened up my network. And then I realised, this pool of amazing thought-leaders should be more readily available, not just in my proverbial Black Book.

So I created Wisern, a mentoring platform specifically for creatives, bringing best-in-class, niche knowledge to the creative community.

The premise is really simple: spend an hour with an expert.

Please head over to .me to and give us a follow (it's very new!) and I really look forward to sharing this journey with you as we grow!

And, of course, you can always book a session there too

About Ben: As a London-based photographer fascinated by people I thrive when capturing the everyday moments of life that most take for granted. With a relaxed approach and authentic style, I specialise in reportage, lifestyle and portraiture creating colourful optimistic content for ad agencies, design teams and clients directly.

I’ve been documenting Glastonbury for over 20 years and it was there that I developed my style and learnt to shoot in almost any environment!

It's been quite a challenge to choose just a handful of images so I’ve focused on just the night shots as for me it's when the festival really comes alive!

As Glastonbury takes a pause this year, long-time festival photographer Ben Roberts dips into his archive to remind us of the weird and wonderful mudfest we're missing!

Ben Roberts is a photographer based in Madrid, Spain. He works on commercial and editorial projects for a wide range of clients, and also creates personal work in response to socio-political occurrences.

In collaboration with writer Francheska Melendez, Ben produced ‘Amuleto’ (Here Press, 2020) a photobook that operates as a conversation between image and text - drawing parallels between the pandemic, the immigrant experience, and the global human rights movement.
