It's been a fantastic start to the year here at Urchin, between vocal sessions, EP recordings, a writing camp and a video shoot. has also been hard at work recording an album in Studio A using some conventional and also some unconventional techniques. Special mention goes to our downstairs toilet which has been turned into a teacup/assorted metal objects/backing vocals recording area Patchbay is also getting a serious workout!

Had a lovely afternoon recording our beautiful Feurich 122 uptight piano with for drama Boiling Point - some very close mic'ing of the felt rail on this one! The whole soundtrack is now available to stream with our piano featuring prominently in Processing, Empathy, Hospital Visit and Andy Visits. Enjoy!

After the final episode last night it’s a real pleasure to share our music for the Boiling Point Series!
As a project it pulled us around in many directions, from the chaos of the title theme, to finding ways to maximise tension, to holding the wonderful moments of empathy and connection the cast and writers managed to convey.
A huge thank you to everyone who was part of this journey for us; to mention a few, for mastering, at for that piano, and our amazing string players, .cave on sax, and for his inspired work on the needle-drops on the soundtrack.
Final props to who was with us through every twist and turn of the process!

We are very excited that our 'founding father' a.k.a legendary producer of The Strokes is in London next week in conversation about his book "The World Is Going To Love This: Up From The Basement With The Strokes" as well as 2 bands he has recently worked with: and - Its a great read and our very own even gets a mention several times! The event takes place at one of our favourite venues on 24th August and tickets can be found on Dice FM. See you there!

We've had the pleasure of hosting acclaimed British film director Sally Potter a number of times here at Urchin, but it was even more of a privilege to be part of the recording of her debut studio album Pink Bikini. PINK BIKINI is a semi-autobiographical collection of songs about growing up female in London in the 1960s, as a young rebel and activist.

Mixed here at Urchin Studios by Dan Cox - This cover of The Gun Club’s much loved classic also features performances by James Johnston on violin (PJ Harvey/Gallon Drunk), Ian White on drums (Gallon Drunk), Gavin Jay on bass (Jim Jones Revue/All Stars), and UK artist Suzie Stapleton on piano/backing vocals who also produced the track.
