Meet our wonderful Art Director Mariya Evtimova 🎬🥳

!! CREW ANNOUNCEMENT!! … Meet our Art Department!
Mariya Evtimova (Art Director)

Mariya has had a recent nomination for best production design at the British Film Designers Guild for her short film 'Verrucaway' and her third feature film as Head of Department is coming out at the end of the year. With her previous assisting experience on bigger film projects such as 'KIlling Eve, Season 4', ‘Culprits’, and ‘Kraven the Hunter’ starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Russel Crowe, Mariya feels confident that she can continue to take on more projects of her own. She is now focusing on more Head of Department projects for this year.

Meet our production designer! 🎥😁

!! CREW ANNOUNCEMENT!! … Meet our Art Department!

Irene trained in Barcelona and moved to London in 2012 where she began working on lots of varied independent and studio productions. Her credits include “Tomb Raider” (2018) starring Alicia Vikander, “Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle” starring Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett, and “Infinite” (2021) starring Mark Whalberg.

Irene’s focus has always been to enhance the narrative through the visuals and the sets, adding layer upon layer of leaving to the story.

Recently Irene has been hard at work on Wes Anderson’s “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar” and Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg’s “Masters of the Air”.

Meet our Director of Photography Joao Da Silva! .com_dop

Joao is a performance focused cinematographer who is known for creating effective images that stir emotions. He is committed to taking the audience on a journey of discovery, providing inspiration and engagement. His work spans both short and feature films as well as TV shows and commercials.

Joao is most known for his work on feature films ‘Winter Ridge’ (2018) and ‘Dagenham’ (2018). He has also previously worked with our director Carl Mackenzie, to create the short film ‘Just a Day’(2017)

We are very excited to have Joao onboard with us!

New cast announcement 📣 🥳

!! CAST ANNOUNCEMENT!! … STEVEN BLADES (Kyle Fuller)

We are thrilled to announce that Steven Blades will be joining the cast of Unseen Scars and will play marine commando, Kyle Fuller.

A Royal Marine Commando veteran, Steven was accepted into Royal Marines Commando Basic Training at the age of 16. Following deployment in Afghanistan, he was medically discharged in 2010. After beginning a career in acting, Steven made his feature film acting debut in 2014. Since then, Steven has appeared in more than 30 TV and film projects including Matthew Hope’s ‘All the Devils Men’. He later appeared in in the world’s longest running television soap ’Coronation Street’ and MGM’s ‘Vikings”. More recently Steven starred in Tom Paton's ‘400 Bullets’ alongside fellow Unseen Scars actor, Andrew Lee Potts.

Character Kyle Fuller:
Marine Commando veteran Kyle is a close friend of James and Lee. One of the more dominant personalities of the friendship group, Kyle and Lee often bicker and banter, much to the group’s entertainment. In Kyle’s, and many of the group’s presence, James feels comfortable and has a sense of belonging. A feeling he struggles to find anywhere else in the civilian world.

Gareth Jones

Our final member of the Unseen Scars producing team is executive producer, Gareth Jones.

Gareth brings extensive experience to the project, having been involved in the financing, sales and distribution of feature films for over thirty years.

He has financed, sold international rights to and distributed more than one hundred independent feature films including 'Withnail and I', 'Mona Lisa' and 'Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels' and Sundance winner 'Secretary', starring Maggie Gyllenhaal.

Our producer, Alexa, is known throughout the industry for her knowledge and steadfast determination. Throughout her career she has produced 'I Love My Mum' starring Kierston Wareing, 'Sweetheart' starring Nell Barlow and Jo Hartley and suspense thriller 'Lead Heads' starring Tom Felton and Rupert Everett.

More recently, Alexa co-produced 'Prizefighter' starring Ray Winstone and Russell Crowe.

!! CAST ANNOUNCEMENT!! … Mhairi Calvey (Sarah McLean)

We are delighted to announce the casting of Mhairi Calvey as Sarah McLean in Unseen Scars. We have already had the pleasure of working with Mhairi and we can’t wait to be shooting more scenes with her soon.

Mhairi made her feature film debut at the age of 5 in Mel Gibson’s multi Oscars winning ‘Braveheart’ playing the young Murron.

Since then Mhairi has appeared in many films and TV projects including ‘Fear the Invisible Man’ and ‘Robert the Bruce’ for which she won best newcomer at the National Film Awards.

Character of Sarah McLean:
Sarah has always been a confident, strong-willed and independent person. It was no surprise to anyone when she chose a career in law. When James went to war, she spent the entire time worrying; she dreaded the phone ringing and endured endless sleepless nights.

Now he’s home, she comes to understand that James is struggling in a fight that is worse than anything he faced while he was away. And it’s completely out of her control. She has no idea how to help James and that terrifies her. As James’ depression deepens, she wonders if her marriage will survive.

Meet our lead actor 🎥🥳

!! CAST ANNOUNCEMENT!! … ANDREW LEE POTTS (James McLean)

We are beyond excited to announce the casting of the brilliant Andrew Lee Potts. (). Andrew Lee has been cast as our lead role, James McLean. Please help us in welcoming Andrew Lee to the production!

With his over 30 years in the business, Andrew is now a veteran of TV and Film. He will be most recognisable to TV audiences as the quirky Connor Temple in ITV’s science fiction series ‘Primeval’. Andrew Lee is also known for playing 'Jackson' in Steven Spielberg’s ‘Band Of Brothers’ and most recently for his roles in the late Stan Lee’s ‘Lucky Man’, ‘The Innocents’ with Guy Pearce, and in Sky One's 'Tin Star' with Tim Roth. He also appeared as Michael Collins, pilot of Apollo 11 in the huge hit and Golden Globe winning Netflix show “The Crown”.

Character of James McLean:
Military veteran James has returned home from war, alive and uninjured. On the surface, James’ life appears to be good; he’s working a 9-5 job and he now gets to spend time with his wife, Sarah, after years of working away. However, in reality, James is really struggling. With the world now very different in James’ eyes, he tries to hide his PTSD from those around him. The longer James hides his struggles, the more dangerous his situation becomes.
