Starting in 1990 with our core business of books in English on Japan, we have now developed to include books on a variety of subjects, not least Kodansha's English manga “KC” –Kodansha Comics– in the UK & Ireland from 2013.

Kodansha Europe’s aim is to bring the cultures of the world closer together in mutual respect and understanding through sharing of the knowledge found in the pages of books – the ‘silent ambassadors’ of former Kodansha president Shoichi Noma. Starting in 1990 with our core business of books in English on Japan, we have now developed to include books on Korea, China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand, Burma, the Indian sub-continent, Tibet and Central Asia. We have also begun to make books on Africa available, starting in the field of nature and wildlife photography, shot through the lenses of some of the world’s best-known and most respected photographers in the field. We began representing the Kodansha English manga series (“KC” – Kodansha Comics) in the UK & Ireland in 2013. We offer books from a variety of publishers covering everything you could imagine, including Architecture + Interior Design, Art, Cinema, Cookery, Crafts, Design, Fiction, Gardens, Health + Beauty, History + Society, Languages, Manga, Martial Arts, Natural History, Pop Culture, Photography, Religion + Philosophy, Travel…

We also act as foreign rights agents for some of our publishers. We welcome interest from any publisher in these fields looking for trade distribution and representation for the UK, continental Europe and beyond.
