What a fabulous detailed review just published of our 'Cabinet of Wonders, Vol. 2' release.

Kinga Ujszaszi, violin
Tom Foster, harpsichord

'Kinga Ujszászi is a brilliant violinist, whose first disc with the same title, also including pieces from Schrank II, greatly impressed me. That is not any different this time. It is again a winner. Stylistically the hits the nail on the head, with strong rhetorical playing, a clear articulation and marked dynamic differences. Tom Foster is the perfect partner at the harpsichord, delivering excellent realizations of the basso continuo part. This is music making of the highest order'

Tears From Babylon – J.S. Bach: Piano Transcriptions

«Tears From Babylon – J.S.

Την δισκογραφική εργασία της Αλεξάνδρας Παπαστεφάνου «Tears From Babylon – J.S.
Το «Tears From Babylon – J.S.
Το «Tears From Babylon – J.S.

Coming in early 2025!

To Anglican church musicians around the world, composer Herbert Murrill (1909–1952) is well-known for his wonderful 'Magnificat' and 'Nunc Dimittis in E major'. But there is a treasure trove of other music waiting to be rediscovered, including his many songs which are featured here in first recordings.

As well as a composer and organist, during WW2 Murrill was a codebreaker at Bletchley Park, where he also conducted many concerts and operas. Murrill was also Head of Music at the BBC in the early 1950s.

A fantastic five star ***** review published last week in Portugal's leading weekly newspaper EXPRESSO of the recent FHR release featuring legendary mezzo-soprano Teresa Berganza with the Orquestra Sinfónica Portuguesa (Portuguese SO) conducted by Álvaro Cassuto (live recording from 1993).

'A Portuguese gem – It's not every week (month, year) that a record of quality classical music from Portugal comes out... Congratulations to FHR... Dazzling! .... I can't imagine they could be better sung! ... Another reason to be amazed is the quality of the orchestra and the performances.'

Currently recording an album of music by Philip MOORE sung by St Albans Cathedral Choir + musicians from Sinfonia Verdi directed by Andrew Lucas. Lucky to have the composer here during some of the sessions. Photos taken during Moore's magnificent work 'Benedicite omnia opera' for choir, organ, 3 trumpets, 3 trombones, timps and cymbals, which was absolutely thrilling to hear in the cathedral! It will be the first commercial recording of the work.

The recording is going to sound incredible in surround sound with Dolby ATMOS!

Philip Moore is an organist and composer, who was organist and Director of Music at York Minster for 25 years.

‘The disc opens with a lovely performance of Fauré’s Cello Sonata No.1… It’s a striking work [Crosse] and a notable addition to the contemporary cello repertoire, more than justifying the description as “a modern masterpiece” in the press release.’

There’s an outstanding new recording of the quite remarkable Mystery Sonatas, or Rosary Sonatas of Heinrich Ignaz Franz von Biber, violinist Alan Choo the exceptional soloist with Apollo’s Fire,
