As we get ready for our mega party with the Finger Lickin’ Crew in London next weekend (still some tickets left, link in comments) here’s a bit of background…

Back in 1996 Jem and JUSTIN met and got making tunes pretty quickly. It was here, on this very set-up in Jem’s sitting room in Shepherds Bush, London, where the first load of what were to be Finger Lickin’ tracks were all created and recorded - that’s Love & Hate, Between the Eyes (inc Flint mix), Osmosis, The Lick, Nutty Drumstick (inc Matt Cantor remix), Getting’ It On, Scatterbox, Everybody’s Funkin’, Gonna Keep On, and several more.

Kit list: Atari520ST (half a Meg!), Emu-e64 sampler (8 outputs), Roland W30 (7 secs sample time), Juno106, Mackie 24-track desk, Behringer Composer compressor, Digitech Quad delay, 2 x Alesis Multiverbs, Emu Classic Keys, JBL hi-fi speakers, all mastered onto a Sony Portable DAT

The only inaccurate thing is it was never this tidy and the carpet was never that hoovered.

Over the next few years Jem was able to buy another sampler and some more outboard gear to add to the set-up, but remained on Atari until about 2004 when a Mac laptop finally found its way in.

Come and celebrate the golden age of breaks this weekend at Between The Bridges, all our crew plus The Freestylers playing a classic breaks set. You would be mad to miss it!

Please note due to tidal issues the boat leaves and returns to a different pier from our previous parties. Please give yourself plenty of time to find it.

We will now be departing from GREENWICH PIER, SE10 9HT

Please be VERY punctual and ready to board at 12:45, the boat MUST depart by 13:15
Get ready to dance…
We return and disembark at the same dock at 5pm.

Do not turn up if you haven't bought an official ticket as we are not allowed to take you - BUT:

This fantastic venue is just 5 tube stops from Greenwich Pier (Jubilee line to Waterloo), or Uber Boats/Thames Clippers which run every 20min or so from Greenwich Pier straight to Embankment, a few steps from the venue. Tickets are around £10pp, you can buy at the pier before you board or even use your Oyster. You might even get to sit next to one of us…. Between the Bridges has an amazing selection of street food and drinks within the venue.

Not one, not two but THREE Finger Lickin' tracks in the top 20, starting with Soul of Man and a brand new entry straight in at the Number 1 spot with The Drum/Acid Punch.

Our very own JUSTIN RUSHMORE's will be hosting a panel alongside some very special guests to discuss “the evolution of breaks” at Brighton Music Conference discussing the history of underground breakbeat movement from the late 90's and naughties.

“A scene that rapidly moved from the back rooms to main rooms worldwide. In many ways breakbeat was written off by the media, pushed aside by dubstep, yet as a musical genre is making a resurgence.

Blimey… there was enormous love in the house - and boat - yesterday, we are truly blown away. Thank you for being with us for 25 years - what a fabulous, happy, smiley bunch of people you are - we love you, we really do.

Thanks also to our fantastic friends for facilitating the live stream (we will rebroadcast down the line), to and for animating Jem’s artwork so brilliantly, our door crew, Jim at and Otis at plus their respective staff for being perfect hosts and technicians.

Goddammit we’re so looking forward to our double-whammy of birthday celebrations with you tomorrow! Just a few important points as London will be VERY busy because of some king-thing happening (no one consulted us, outrageous!) Public transport is running normally but do allow extra time for crowds and queues particularly around the main overground stations and junctions.

BOAT PARTY
The boat departs at 2pm SHARP, boarding from 1:30, if you’re late you will see us cruising off without you! Note that the boat will dock at 6pm on the other side of the river at Blackfriar’s, a short walk to Waterloo and our next event at 26 Leake Street.

HUGE NEWS the first single from our long awaited REPLUMPED Vol 1 remasters album drops tomorrow.

This lands following the unraveling of so much red tape and hare work behind the scenes. (Pre order link in comments)

The album 1 takes us on a 25 year tour back into time. Featuring 22 of our favorite records remastered, retweaked and lovingly Replumped for your pleasure. Plus a 1h DJ mix of more exclusive best bits for your feet.

We are planning on regularly releasing more up front singles on the run up to the album launch, so keep your ears pealed!
