ITS FINALLY LIVE!

For the past month we've been working endlessly to get this done and its finally here! Our first music video (of many we hope).

It was a delight working with Agne_B and bringing her vision to screen! And hats off to Hattie Foreman for spending hours in a green morph suit!!

For our next instalment in the Melanin series we'll be shining the spotlight on veteran DnB artist and CEO at Sleep Less Records , Curtis Holligan aka Talking Drums aka MC SAS

Curtis has been in the game for 20+ years and has seen it all. He's performed at venues across the UK and in Europe, including the renowned Outlook Festival

In this episode of Melanin he will enlighten us about the experience of growing up as a Black person in Liverpool during the Thatcher years, how he became a well respected artist in the DnB scene, and also discuss the intrinsic relationship the Bass scene has with Black culture.

Production begins in July.
This will be one not to miss!

In this poetic visual art film, Altherhythm expresses her own experiences of racism whilst offering words of motivation and counsel to those seeking to join the fight for racial justice, and those lost in the wilderness of racial hatred and ignorance.

WE ARE BLACK. WE ARE BRITISH. WE ARE PROUD. AND WE WILL BE LOUD.

Melanin is a series that will bring the narrative of Black British people to the forefront. It will inform the truth seekers, culturally ignorant and bigoted individuals about the cultures, the pain, the talents and the successes that humanise the Black British experience.

"Centuries of racial injustices have forced our skin to be politicised. So alongside the graceful poem by Altherhythm, which outlines the importance of solidarity, I wanted to turn Al's body into a canvas and project provocative and disconcerting images onto her. My intention was to create an emblematic visual that represents how we can't simply escape the reality of our oppression.

Juxtaposing the projections with something like yoga, which is intended to provoke peace of mind, is my way of showing the people who don't suffer from racial prejudice, that as much as black people try to navigate through life ordinarily, we are never truly at ease. This is because racism is woven into the fabric of the UK, meaning it's inescapable from the moment we are born. It clings to us like ash falling from the sky of a nearby inferno, gripping onto our skin, and polluting the air we breathe.

Until the head of the beast has been cut off,

Until the poisonous vines that restrict our youth from being taught a decolonised truth have been burnt,

Until we rid this world from the disease that corrupts our humanity,

Until then we cannot truly feel at ease walking down a street, entering a store, minding our own business whilst we radiate the beauty, the melanin, that shapes our existence."
