These artists originally come from many different countries - but all have a strong connection to Harehills.

Enjoy their work in the beautiful setting of Shine on Harehills Road, open Monday to Friday 8 til 8. Cafe available til 2:30 pm.

(Shine provides the largest space in Leeds where artists can offer their work for sale without being charged commission.)

https://youtu.be/7sBG8J2s-H8 Watch a trailer for one of the films we will be showing on Tuesday: The Stitches Speak (Tanko Bole Chhe) by the wonderful animator Nina Sabnani. This is an animated documentary based on the work of the Kutch artisans associated with Kala Raksha.
Nina Sabnani worked with them, using their traditional art of appliqué and embroideries, together with conversations and memories, to tell the stories of their lives, including traumatic events such as war and earthquake, as well as happier ones, as they journey to find a new home.
