Soooo close to being able to say that new book, new author, new scope for Red Rabbit Rises where novels and adult reading starting to become available.

Not long, just a triple-check of proof copy. Hopefully be able to announce in early September still!

For a bit of a tease on this - as we start this process, a map showing the start of the journey in the book. Not the whole journey, not even in the book, but the start is a good place to begin :-)

One final stage to go for next publication.

This novel has been a long time in the making - more on that later, but each stage has made us earn levelling up to next stage.
Thinking about the nature of the story and the characters within, this retrospectively makes a bit of sense...

Once we have it in our hands in the next few days as a physical product and are happy with the quality, it'll be ready to go!

Last post, the front over.
This time, combined with the back for full effect, and blurb for story taster.

More soon (hopefully!)

Just waiting on revisions for the 2nd to last (or penultimate, for the pedantic) stage for the next publication.

For the next build up stage of hype, the cover!
With thanks to Kamila for style, design, formatting, patience, insight...

And author Tom for the intruguing, meaningful and potentially purchase inducing title!

More soon :-D

Hello all,

The next Red Rabbit Rises publication is the first change up here from children's books.

It is a fantasy novel, not written by me, but by an author, Tom Snook, in Adelaide. More details to come in next few weeks.

The aim is kid's books as the majority of the publications, but not to restrict myself in my own 'do it because I wanna' business. I had the chance to read the book to edit it, and loved it, and asked Tom about publishing it. And here we (almost) are :-D

Last bits getting sorted, with paperback then hardback. Hopefully do some sly coaxing marketing about it here soon :-)

Part 2 of 2 part post (bound to happen, put like that...)

This here is Gary and Ange, lovely people, who've written a lovely book, A Day Out With Great Granddad!

To keep the dual theme going, here they do two things:
- Explain the background behind the story, the influence and their personal connections to the story, the importance of childrne's sstories growing up, and how it connects to memory and place
- Offer a chance for a school (In Gippsland, Vic, Australia this time) to have "Win two authors!" A really interesting option, if of interest, check it out!

Thanks Ange and Gary, and hope some lucky school group gets a chance to have a great day out with them also :-D

Hello all,

This is a two-part post!

The first part:
Plockton Library in their continuing support of Book Week Scotland and also Red Rabbit Rises Publishing posted up this recording of the book A Day Out With Great Granddad.

Thanks to Plockton Library, Book Week, Gary and Ange as the writiers of this, the first book RRR has published by other authors, and Phoebe (https://www.phoeberoze.co.uk/) for amazing illustrations again.

So - this is the book being read - hope you like it. Personally love what Ange and Gary achieved with it :-D

Now, Part two...

Book Week last week started for Red Rabbit Rises Publishing with Carina and Mychael at Plockton Library reading their Gaelic translation of Star Pyjamas, "An Deise-Leapa Reultach,"
and ended with this, the English language version.

The chance to have support language kids (& whoever else may want to learn...) be able to read and hear both versions alongside each other, something that brings a lot of joy here.

Thanks Plockton Library, Carina, Mychael, and Book Week! πŸ˜€

Claire Maclean Illustration - check it out! Eileen Macdonald - hopefully more Gaelic speakers to blether with in years to come!

The whole Bookbugs video is really well done, however for those wanting to see the book reading, it starts at 9 min 30 seconds!

Hayley's books are fun/ silly/ gross (Captain Plop, anyone...?)/ smile-inducing.

However, ThinkBeings, for e.g., also a really good way for kid's to explore feelings and emotions they are dealing with.

On top of that, the linked website has some great activities! Highly recommended - check it out :-D

20 years of great music, great energy, and incredible support for local Adelaide music and musicians!

2pm on a Sunday - you can't see how warm her smile is, but no doubt you'll feel it, along with the music.

Congratulations, Christine! Hpefully see you next time I'm in town :-D

**Today marks a very special anniversary of a very special and loved Coast presenter**
Christine has spend the past 16 and half years hosting her much loved and popular Orange Blossom Special. Prior to that she was a co presenter on the Louisiana Hayride with Leapin' Lawrie Beale and in 2003 she had a program at Midnight Friday for 2 hours called Dancing into a New Day.
She has also won a couple of Bilby Awards for an interview with Wanda Jackson and one for promoting Local Talent.
β€œI have lost count of the musicians who have been in the studio. Last night I went out to see three bands and they all asked when they could come in on a Sunday...I really do love my life. I was on air as a guest with Hound Dog Bob Shannon on his program in 2000 about a year before he passed away The Hound Dog Show is still remembered by a lot of our regular listeners.” - Christine

Have been pacing the social media stuff for Red Rabbit Rises Publishing for a wee while, while growing the range of books in the background. More regular posts to come soon.

This is the first book that goes beyond my own writing, and I'm pretty amazed and proud at what Ange & Gary have achieved here - Phoebe also, again with great, joyful, talented illustrations!

Over and above the book - cake! So nice to be inspired by the people you work with! :-D

CAKE! What's a celebration without CAKE? This was specially made by the lovely people at Funkey Monkey Cafe in Lakes Entrance. The bright icing hid a delicious chocolate mud cake. Devoured by all able to be at the celebration of family across the generations in person and delivered to those who joined by zoom.. at least we hope so! 😊

Another gratuitous plug - Highland-based, smal, independent music-based goodness. Hopefully useful to some of you out there :-)

More to share on this lovely new book soon - but this below says much :-)

A Day Out with Great Granddad came into being after we received the news that Gary's eldest daughter, Lara and her partner, Kyle were expecting their first child. Gary's first grandchild.

At the same time, Gary's Dad, Neville was in hospital and we didn't know if these two family members would ever actually meet.

Many conversations followed this news and memories of family across the generations came to the fore. Things learnt, time spent together, hopes for the future and stories of adventures had together..

Humour, love and knowledge of family came together with imagination and the story itself was born.

We kept it a tight secret from all except Neville. For Neville it was an unexpected privilege. One that said to him, we see you, we love you and we celebrate who you are. Neville got to hear all the progress reports on the writing, reviewing, illustration work ups and finally the news that the book was COMPLETED!

Neville did leave hospital for a time and he got to meet Nate. It was not long however, before Neville was in hospital once more and sadly, passed away. A Day Out With Great Granddad now is a lasting tribute to Neville, a way for Nate to know his Great Granddad and his place in the family story.

It's our hope that readers of our story enjoy it for the playfulness of the words but, also beyond that for the genuine feelings expressed for family across the generations.
