Emmaus in Glasgow opened in 2006 and operates a residential community for 29 formerly homeless men and women, known as companions. We fund our community through a reuse business with two retail charity shops in Partick and Hamiltonhill, along with a warehouse in Glasgow. We work closely with other organisations in the area to support those people who are homeless or trapped by poverty and to help
them to develop skills and self-respect through working and contributing. As well as working for the community social enterprises, companions are supported in whatever way they need to address the issues that have brought them into Emmaus, and encouraged to look outside themselves, working in projects to help others in the neighbourhood, and much further afield. Our companions have been involved locally with Get Hooked on Fishing, volunteering at the soup run, distributing The Pavement Magazine, as well as helping support other local charities in Glasgow. Also through our links with the Emmaus International Movement, in projects in Benin, West Africa and Bosnia.

๐ Exciting News from Emmaus Glasgow! ๐
Thanks to Mathew Radley & Associates Social Impact Fund and Sarah Atta, we have a new people carrier to bring hot meals to the city centre every Wednesday and Sunday. โค๏ธ
We also donated a pine bench and more to St Roch's Juniors' memorial area and this month, weโre operating a food bank at a local primary school, supporting families in our community.

Launching our new people carrier which means we are able to drive in the city centre again since the introduction of the ULEZ ! Our new vehicle collects food from numerous donors, end of day food from retailers and then bringing all out hot food, water and tables into the city centre every Wednesday and Sunday evening so we can provide our soup kitchen. Purchasing this vehicle has been made possible by massive financial support from Mathew Radley & Associates Social Impact Fund and one of our dearest friends and supporters Sarah Atta thank you so much.
We are incredibly proud of Emmaus Glasgow staff member, William, for assisting a woman experiencing a medical emergency. Thanks to his recent first aid training, he knew exactly what to do when he spotted her while driving one of our vans.
Here's trustee Frank presenting William with a voucher this morning as a token of gratitude.
The ladies granddaughter contacted us to say her mum is now recovering thanks to Williams heroic actions. ๐

Today weโre remembering Lucie Coutaz, the co-founder of Emmaus alongside Abbรฉ Pierre, on what would have been her 125th birthday.
For Abbรฉ Pierre, Lucie was "the one, without whom, nothing would have been possible". She joined the French Resistance with him in the Second World War and became his parliamentary secretary in 1945, the same year she was awarded the Croix de Guerre with bronze star war medal.

Our Ellesmere St shop is closed for a spring refresh. We'll reopen at 9am on Thursday. Our Partick shop is open as usual.
Emmaus glasgow donating tons of furniture, clothes, bric a brac into a 40ft container going to help those in need in Gambia - our second container . Back to our soup kitchen in the city centre tonight and we will be doing local food bank events in May and June.
The past three months have been a whirlwind of activity here at Emmaus Glasgow, brimming with community engagement, creative projects, and wonderful collaborations.

Everyone living at Emmaus Glasgow has their own bedroom, all meals are provided in a communal dining room and normal living expenses covered. There is no time limit for their stay with us, and this stability helps people to rebuild their lives following homelessness.

*APPEAL* - WE NEED SLEEPING BAGS & MATS for people sleeping rough on the street.
Emmaus Glasgow, alongside our incredible network of volunteers work in the evening/nights operating the city centre Soup Kitchen. We also work with groups such as the See The Invisibles who support those sleeping rough. We desperately need sleeping bags and mats to hand out to those sleeping rough.
If you have a spare sleeping bag or mat please drop them off at one of our shops in either Partick or Hamiltonhill, your donation can make a real difference. Thank you.

Today is Social Enterprise Day 2022! Here at Emmaus Glasgow, we provide accommodation and support to formerly homeless people, who volunteer full-time in our social enterprises to learn new skills, build confidence and gain work experience. The Emmaus community in Glasgow opened in 2006 and now operates a residential community of 27 former homeless men and women (โcompanionsโ) and a recycling/reuse business with two retail charity shops โ Partick and Hamiltonhill in Glasgow. We think that's certainly something to shout about this Social Enterprise Day.
