It’s a limited edition 7” from our friends Portishead and it’ll be AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER TOMORROW (Thursday 11th July) at 9am UK from the Friendly Records website. Link in bio.

Read what the story behind the record below:

“After « Morning Mist « first single released this summer, Simon Says is back with a new single : « Casa Susanna ».

Following on from his first album “Epoca Blu”, Simon constructs a universe where contemporary, sometimes experimental sounds collide with organic pop.

“Casa Susanna” is a romantic ballad inspired by the story of a villa in the Catskill Mountains north of New York, a popular vacation destination for cross-dressing men and transgender women in the early 1960s. Discovered last Photography festival in Arles, Simon was inspired by hundreds of photos exhibited to compose this piece.

Accompanied by Thibault Barbillon (Bass, Guitar) and Hervé Bécart (Drums), mixing was entrusted to Jerome Caron (Studio Felix) and mastering to Shawn (Optimum). The cover and animations are once again the creations of Apollo Thomas.

The Distance is the sound of 4 artists deep in the studio as their lives frayed & bound together. Classic electronic machines clad with piano & string textures form brickwork around the shapeshifting voices inside. Vulnerable confessions of grief & anxiety lean up against confident expressions of love.
