Honestly, this is something I’ve struggled with…I identify as a lot of things. But the biggest one of those is being a feminist….It’s something I’ve never felt ashamed or embarrassed of, I stand up proudly for women’s rights. We deserve equality and I’m here for it. However, there have been a few times, when talking or thinking about feminism and my job I’ve felt pushed into a corner. Am I supporting societies pressures on women to remove hair? Am I supporting the unrealistic body image shoved down teenage girls throats? Am I supporting the narrative, that to be feminine means to have no body hair? The answer is a simple no… I support all women in their grooming choices. And that is what it means to be a feminist, a belief that women deserve a choice and equality. And whilst I support that choice, I’m offering a safe space for women to come and talk about their hang ups and pressures they put onto themselves. I like to think in doing this, I’ve made these women feel just a little more confident that body hair is normal, regardless of what you do with it.
