Making progress isn't an easy ride....
Social media will only show the celebration of achievements, and you will rarely see the setbacks, the roadblocks and the tears & tantrums it took to get there.
So let's give ourselves a pat on the back for the every-day efforts that we go through in order to cross that finish line.
Let us honour the struggle, the sweat and the grind that it took to ride that journey.
We are only human. We are not perfect. We are in progress ๐ซถ๐ฝ

Parents who practice self-care are demonstrating to their children that there are healthy ways to manage life's ups and downs.
Self-care and mental health are connected, and neglecting one can have a negative impact on the other.
So, take some time out of your day to do something you love, find comforting or enjoy...here's a couple ideas:
๐ซ go for a 10min walk
๐ซ make yourself a cuppa tea
๐ซ read for 10mins
๐ซ watch your favorite Netflix series
๐ซ eat the chocolate
๐ซ text a friend
๐ซ journal
๐ซ make a to-do list
๐ซ put on your joggers and keep warm

I'm taking some time off over Christmas to spend with family & friends, reset, recharge and re-focus my goals for 2023!
Thank you to everyone who has supported my PT journey, shared, liked and loved my content! I'm so grateful for this opportunity to pursue my dreams and aspirations. I have new ideas for 2023 and I can't wait to get to get my teeth stuck in!

So who's feeling the festive bloat already??
If you're anything like me, then Christmas Day won't be the first time in December you're eating a Christmas Dinner (or chocolates!): from work parties to celebrations with friends, many of us end up indulging before the big day is even upon us!
But this leaves us feeling a little bloated and having to undo the top of our new jeans or wear the baggy jumpers we refused to wear!
So what can you do to beat the post-feast bloat and offset the side effects of a few festive excesses?
๐CHEW: that's right, chew your food properly! As tempting as it is to scoff several pigs in blankets all in one go, remember that digestion starts in your mouth!
๐LEMON: as well as adding that lemon slice to your gin & tonic, try squeezing a little lemon onto your turkey...it helps the breakdown of protein.
๐PORTION SIZE: who am I to tell you to limit your portion size on Christmas Day!! It's the best meal of the year!! HOWEVER, don't overload too hastily, your eyes are often bigger than your belly, so go for a normal portion to start, and then seconds if needed.
๐HERBAL: drinking herbal tea such as ginger, peppermint or senna is recommended after your meal, to help the digestive system move as it's a natural laxative. (in between the G&T's obviously!!)
๐WALK: when we rest, we retain a higher proportion of gas in the gut! So a gentle walk around the village/town will enhance intestinal gas clearance and reduce symptoms of belly bloat! (you'll have the sprouts to thank for that!!)
Remember to enjoy your festive break, we've all had yet another hard year so laugh, be kind and be safe!

So figure out what makes you happy. Let go of whatever doesn't serve you. Understand what is stopping you from achieving your goals. And be grateful for what success looks like to you.
Amongst all the chaos this weekend, I've set myself 5 new 'To-Do's' this week....all relating to a little self-care and personal growth.
Adding reminders to my working day/calendar will help me to stay on track and treat the 'to-do' as a non-negotiable meeting!

To be honest, when it comes to fitness & nutrition, I've not been as strict & consistent as I should have. We all have periods of time where we feel overwhelmed, less motivated, and stressed, and the last couple months have been just that for me! Today I start a calorie deficit for the next 6 weeks. I want to tighten up and feel better in my skin. I'm going to be tracking my progress with stories & pictures so you all know how I get on. It also keeps me accountable. ME!! Do I feel guilty? Yes. Do I feel sluggish? Yes. Do I feel lazy? Yes. Do I feel depressed? Yes. BUT Am I human? Yes. Am I busy Mum/Wife/Housekeeper/Laundry Assistant/Full-Time Employee etc etc? Yes. Am I ever going back to the gym? Yes. Will I be happier? Yes. Will I be energetic? Yes. Will the feelings of guilt, laziness & depression last forever? NO! We all have our own hectic and busy livesโฆsome have a higher passion of fitness and health than others, so they โmake timeโ for the gymโฆbut that doesnโt mean youโre failing yourself! Iโve had over a week off the gym. December is the busiest time of the year, and Iโve thrown in that I want to become a full-time Personal Trainer/Online Coachโฆon top of my current Full-Time employment!! *mind-blown* I work extremely hard to keep my family safe and happy, my house chores afloat and my dog alive! So, I cut myself some slack when I donโt โhave the timeโ or โwant toโ go to the gym because I feel slightly less motivated or tired from other commitments. Iโm healthy, Iโm breathing and Iโm aware of my body and itโs needs. Sometimes we all just need a little break, reset and recharge and then back to it!
