Town Portal news!

Get your hands on this very limited re-pressing of Chronopoly, brought to you from our pals over at Small Pond.

The rumor says that they'll sell out quickly.

Our first LP Chronopoly has been around for almost six years, but the vinyl version has been sold out for at least half of that time span. Well, now it has resurfaced in a new very limited edition as the second installment of Small Ponds Black Label series (of which Cleft's "Utter / Whalebone" was the first).

Recording Europe

New session is out!
Back in the beginning of August we had the chance to record 2 bands in one day in Copenhagen. Not only was Town Portal one of them but they also set us up with the second one (video coming really soon). Great people, great band, awesome memories from an amazing month out on the road.
During our usual lightspeed brainstorming session with my partner in crime Raggi, we decided that rather than hiding ourselves and the other band from sight, we should instead have all of us included in the video, and so we did.
I must say I'm really happy with the result, as usual mixed and mastered at Studio Mécanique.

Something snuck out today! It looks awfully familiar (Great that is!) It sounds like the loooong awaited Spines release and it seems like they're from around our neighbourhood (Copenhagen). Data suggests that this 12" black slab of pure destruction will hit the streets October 29th. It's not a lie! Check it!

Pressed to the Edge: Why vinyl hype is destroying the record

When we started Subsuburban a little more than 4 years ago. It was the most awesome magical time for making vinyls. It was almost smooth sailing. :) Factories were accessible, their agents were sweet and helpful. 2 years after, we saw some slight changes..... This last year? Wouv, where to begin. Let's just start out like this: A little more than a year to 2 years ago we payed 20-30% less to manufacture a quality vinyl release and production times were typically 4-7 weeks. 2015 most production times are 8-12 weeks and sometimes, just getting a straight answer over email can be a challenge in itself. All while the small labels get pushed to the back of the line. Beyond this... there's record store day!!!.... Oh you damned record store day. You "involentarily" paralyze almost everything from January to April. All of this combined: Making it even harder for most indie-bands and -labels to really toy with new music and the future of it. We're not gonna give up on positivity!. No! But we will change our attitude. So before we start rambling too much about the future Subsuburban. READ THIS!

I’ve always maintained that bands who make great music but fail to deliver the goods lyrically are missing an opportunity, building themselves a platform and then finding that they have nothing worth saying when they stand on that musical podium. So what about instrumental bands, ones who deliberately eschew the lyrical path? Well, when you get a band as wonderfully adept at creating wordless songs, I’m happy to throw my argument out of the window. [ 197 more words. ]
