The dissemination of knowledge through scientific articles is undoubtedly essential in the field of science, yet the costs linked with publication fees in reputable journals may hinder less privileged groups. Just as the Gates Foundation seeks to expand access to crucial research and its impact, JOSHA strives to make knowledge accessible to everyone, encouraging collaboration and advancing research for the benefit of society!

Transgenerational trauma is the transmission of the effects of traumatic experiences through generations via genetic inheritance. In other words, a father’s trauma can change his genetic profile which is inherited by his son and grandson. This phenomenon has been well-document since World War II (WW2) where the Holocaust and the Dutch Hunger crises led to transgenerational trauma in millions of families. This article discusses the transgenerational trauma aftermath of WW2, and dives into the new neuroscientific results that uncover how these trauma induced epigenetic changes affect the brain and behavior of human beings. The article finishes with a discussion of what types of experiences can trigger transgenerational trauma, and reflects how the COVID-19 pandemic may be the source of a new wave of transgenerational trauma.

We are excited about this Demetrios Awards 2022 contribution.
The aim of this academic paper is to highlight success factors for startups, especially unicorns, with Germany as a location, to discuss deficient aspects and to explain the development of unicorns. In summary, it is important for the German startup scene and especially for politics to create better framework conditions for all participants in the ecosystem. German politics must slowly recognize that innovations are not only created by the strong middle class. German founders have high qualifications due to their university education, which is why this strength should be used by startups in the market. Startups, through their way of thinking, offer new opportunities to tackle problems and bring forth innovations. The federal government should also arrive in the digital world. First and foremost, there should be a targeted reduction in bureaucracy to make processes in government agencies uncomplicated for startups as well as for society as a whole. After all, attractive cooperation is the only way to attract startups with potential to one's ecosystem.
