Go East by Brueder Selke is available on Bandcamp and via our distributor.
'Go East' marks a significant milestone in the long-term collaboration of Brueder Selke, two brothers who grew up on the socialist side of the Berlin Wall. The tracks are driven by the essential components of a restored Piano-Strings achine, along with two electronic organs named Sandy and the ET6-1, and a E-Piano, all manufactured by Vermona in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

Since 2016, One Instrument has been consistently releasing annual compilations featuring compositions created by various artists. "Year 2023" marks the 8th installment in this series. This yearly celebration provides an opportunity to reflect on the label's concept and its origins.
In 2016, Aimée Portioli, known as Grand River, initiated One Instrument as a record label dedicated to showcasing sound experiments from diverse artists.
The unique twist was that each artist was challenged and constrained to produce their compositions using just a single instrument of their choice.
Aimée Portioli explains that One Instrument began as a personal experiment. She had been working with a Korg MS-20 (the 1978 version) borrowed from a friend for an extended period. During this time, she realized that she frequently switched between various instruments while composing. It was then that she made the decision to commit to a single instrument for an entire composition, selecting the MS-20 for this purpose. This deliberate limitation proved to be
incredibly beneficial, as it forced musicians to place constraints on their composition process.
Simultaneously, it led to a deeper exploration of the chosen instruments, revealing that they deserved more time and patience for study and experimentation.
In addition to the annual compilations, One Instrument has released a total of 16 physical and digital albums. Among these releases are works by notable artists such as Donato Dozzy, Felicity Mangan, Rezo Glonti, Daniele Di Gregorio, Bandhagens Musikförening, Darwin Grosse, Neel, and many others.

Brueder Selke, a polyinstrumental composer duo originally from East Berlin, consistently enriches the repertoire of their two primary instruments: cello and piano. Their independent curator role shines through as they frequently host boutique concerts and happenings, featuring both established and emerging artists during their yearly Q3Ambientfest.
Their innate sense of interplay, developed during their upbringing in GDR times, stems from a deep-rooted longing for connection and exchange with like-minded musicians and individuals. Through their music, they convey ideas that embrace a universal duality, showcasing how diverse elements harmoniously complement each other. The album encompasses a wide range of atmospheric moods, from intimate classical chamber music to expansive textural landscapes created by these now rarely intact socialist synthesizers, with their parameters mimicking strings and keyboard instruments. In this ironic and thoughtful manner, Sebastian and Daniel once again skilfully let their main instruments, cello and piano, merge into one another.
'Go East' aptly reflects the artist's profoundly experimental yet accessible approach, making it their 8th duo album. The 2x2 recordings were produced in their Klingenthal Studio in Potsdam in February 2022.

RR Lyrae” was recorded between 2018 and 2019 by the Portuguese composer and sound designer Dekim, using only the Soma Lyra-8, an organismic analogue synthesizer from Soma Laboratory that was designed by Vlad Kreimer.
In “RR Lyrae”, Dekim explored the performance aspect, recording all pieces in one take without any additional overdubs by the only addition of a reverb pedal.

Pluhm is the main project of Lucio Leonardi, Sicilian musician based in the north of Italy. This time with “Distanze e Solitudini”, amidst emotional ambient drone distortions, he narrates about the distances existing among human beings. Distances that make us lonely, even when we are apparently close to one another, the psychological distance can be so abysmal that we feel abandoned.

Since 2016, One Instrument releases annual compilations of compositions created by different artists. “Year 2022” is the 7th annual Various Artists release.
This yearly celebration is a good moment to remember the concept and background of the label and how it started.
In 2016, Grand River aka Aimée Portioli kicked off One Instrument the record label where she releases sound experiments from different artists composing pieces by using only one instrument, challenging and limiting each of the artists in producing a composition by using only this one instrument of their choice.
She shares that One Instrument started as a need for herself. She had a Korg MS- 20 (the 1978 version) in her studio which she borrowed from a friend for quite a while. At the same time, she was finding herself switching too quickly from one instrument to another while composing. That’s when she decided to stick with one instrument for a whole composition and choose the MS-20 to do that. For the musician, it was extremely helpful to put some limits on the composition process and at the same time discovering that the instruments itself deserve to be explored and studied with more time and patience.
Besides the yearly compilations the label has released 16 physical and digital releases among which we can find the albums of Donato Dozzy, Felicity Mangan, Rezo Glonti, Daniele Di Gregorio, Bandhagens Musikförening, Darwin Grosse, Neel and many others.

1 For One" by Rezo Glonti reviewed by Boomkat
Rezo Glonti, Georgian sound artist and electronic music producer, debuts on the label One Instrument with an album entirely made with the Teenage Engineering OP-1.
"Rezo Glonti, aka Aux Field on his new album “1 For One” created all the layers of the pieces in one take. As always, Glonti’s playing is deceptively elegant, raw but precise, attuned to resonance, radiance, and negative space. He mostly works within the field of experimental music and places a strong emphasis on the incorporation of texture and space into his compositions.
The record spans a range of emotions and moods and the result acts like a decaying memory, brief shining moments of clarity fighting against something unclear and untethered. The various combination of layers perform with both a distinguished efficacy and unhurried dreamy drift—charged and beautiful, pulsating and pleasing."
