Over the last 3 weeks, Members of Coworkies’s Readers Club have been invited to explore the topic with 3 very unique approaches from around the world, discovering how design, functionality, and flexibility are integrated into the core concept of spaces.

Today’s selfie story is about to take you to Brussels 🇧🇪 the capital city of Belgium.

What’s there? a beautiful and refined flexible workspace created by the mother company of hotel brand .

We had the chance to meet Gennesis Pineda, Membership Manager for the brand, who took us on a grand tour of the facility and it was incredible.

From the furniture selection to the different areas and rooms available around the space (think open spaces, meeting rooms, wellness rooms, shared kitchens), each and every details of the space has been chosen with a purpose.

Walking around, we could truly feel the codes of the hospitality world blending in so nicely into life at work.

There is a lot to learn from brands like Working From_ particularly in creating memorable experiences that will not only attract people but more importantly retain them.

Why?
Because the product and services offered are so good that it makes them feel taken care of and gives them no reason to look elsewhere.

Quite the opposite actually :)
A happy member is a member that will tell all is friends about you, contributing to the growth of your community.

Starting the week with... a selfie story from Marseille 🇫🇷

Over the last few weeks, we’ve shared a few impressions of our time well-spent in Marseille, exploring its coworking and flex scene.

This post comes as the last one of our exploring series and we end it with a 💥 or should we say an 🍎

We had the chance to meet the team behind 🍎 Espaces de travail flexibles | Certifié B Corp, a flexible workspace operator that originated in Marseille in 2017.

To say we loved our time there is an understatement.
Here is why

➡️ It is (still) quite uncommon to come across brands that started outside of capital cities and then expanded in the rest of their country. Well, Newton Offices is one of them. It was started in 2017 by Guillaume Pellegrin who believes that growing companies based in regions also need more agility.

“Supporting the economy expansion in cities and regions” has been Newton Offices’ raison d’etre since its inception.

➡️ As a result, the brand has grown year after year, in Marseille and beyond, to now operate 65,000 sqm of office space across 11 cities in France 💥

➡️ What stood out to us while touring around Newton Offices in Marseille was their interior design. Noble materials, spacious and modular rooms that can easily adapt based on the type of activity one wishes to conduct, every detail has been considered for members to have the best time at work.

We also loved experiencing how the branding and naming (Newton in reference to Isaac Newton) come into life in the physical space.

Meet our Chief Cuteness Officer, Mister Danger 🐶

You will now see him from time to time (cutely) appearing on coworking selfies.

Danger’s main mission (besides being cute) is to let us all know which coworking spaces are pet friendly 🐶🐱🐰🐨

So far, he has visited 3, which he will soon report on :)
But for now, back to being cute

There is one thing we LOVE about coworking spaces which is their ability to revive old buildings and transform them into incredible places to work, learn, and connect.

While in Prague, we had the chance to discover which fitted right into that category of spaces.

Hana Kučerová and her team revived what used to be the most modern print house in Central Europe at the beginning of the 20th century.

What did they make with it?
Pure magic 🪄

It’s tiiiiime for yet another selfie story

This week, the Coworkies team is taking you to... Marseille, France’s second-largest city 🇫🇷

We had the chance to explore its coworking scene for a few days and in the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing our impressions in the shape of selfie stories.

The first space we visited is called
If you are not familiar with France’s coworking and flex scene, Startway is one of the country’s biggest players.

While the brand started independently, in 2016, it signed a partnership with La Poste Immobilier, the commercial real estate entity of France’s National Postal Services, which accelerated its growth.

More recently Startway joined forces with another French coworking brand .fr, strengthening its positioning across the country.

Now that you have a better idea of who Startway is, let’s talk about Startway in Marseille. We had the chance to meet Souhila Djedid, the General Manager of the space, who took us for a full tour of the building.

The first thing to know about it all is that the building is quite a landmark for the city. It has a rich past that Startway was able to preserve and revive.

Located just a few minutes away from Marseille’s Vieux-Port, the space offers different areas for members to work (from coworking areas to private offices), connect (the space offers several meeting rooms and event spaces), and... relax.

The day we met Souhila was the day they were pushing a new initiative within the community focused on wellbeing.

We witnessed members getting excited about massages, and we loved it.
We saw members connecting over lunch, and we loved it.
There were people having a workshop, and we loved it.
Above all, we loved listening to Souhila’s background, from working in social services to now being the General Manager of a coworking space. Her care for her community was felt as soon as we stepped in. Her story shows that there is no ‘one-career-path’ leading to coworking spaces and that’s what makes this industry so fascinating.

Thanks, Souhila once again for your time!
We’ll be back in Marseille, that’s for sure :)

Focused on supporting Fashion professionals, Lottozero uses its physical space to “create a fertile environment for textile research and experimentation in design, fashion, and art, and an international base for people operating with textiles.”

At Coworkies, we’ve been huge admirers of Lottozero since we came across it. From their concept to the way they bring people together, the team has done an incredible job that positively impacts the lives of their members.

We sat down with Lottozero’s Co-Founders Arianna Moroder and Tessa Moroder to discuss their journey and key leanings so far.
