“The biggest challenge to explain Game Design is the fact that it is everything. Everything. But how can someone describe everything? By letting experts and great minds share thoughts, ideas and experiences of their approaches on Game Design and invite others to be part of everything. After last year’s Red Dot conference „Success by Game Design: Transmedia Challenges and Potentials“, Red Dot will
once again mediate between the creative industries and joyfully announce this year’s conference “Define Game Design”, which will take place on the 23rd of October 2014 at the Café Moskau, Berlin. Define Game Design
The Red Dot conference „Define Game Design“ is specifically designed for everyone interested in the arts and craftsmanship of modern, „playful“ communication design. Our juror and game design expert Daniel Budiman will guide gamers and non-gamers to the core of game design, reveal insights and new projects of this all-embracing, always evolving discipline. While focusing on the three primary schemas of game design, rules, play and culture*, all attendees will get a comprehensive perspective of modern ways to design (digital) ventures, projects, user-based experiences and - of course - games. The exclusive conference is meant to show designers and producers of digital artefacts how games in general and specifically how different schemas of game design could emerge and improve the user experiences, whether they are for educational, informational and/or entertaining purposes. Experts, great minds in game design and the winners of the Red Dot Award: Communication Design 2014 will share their thoughts and insights in this conference. Game Design is much more than just the visualization of a game. It is the sum of formal, experiential and contextual interactivity. It is everything.
