• Taylor Murray: Photographer/ Social Media Manager

Originally from the island, Taylor lived in Alberta for 8 years. While he was there he acquired qualifications for his first-year welding certificate.

And even though he enjoyed this hands-on style of work, he couldn't help but feel creatively unfulfilled.

So he came back home, where natural beauty overflows; where the natural demand on the soul of the creative is to create.

He discovered a passion for Photography and is now applying that passion to social media management here at Apiary!

• Daniel Chase: Co-Producer

He left his hometown of Selkirk, Manitoba and made his way out to beautiful British Columbia to pursue his artistic dreams.
Daniel Chase is a singer/songwriter who has been playing guitar all his life.

He now brings his in-depth musical knowledge to the technical side of sound; producing the work of talented musicians alongside Austin Penner (AP).
Their debut album “Silly Math” evidences their extraordinary versatility, as well as Daniel’s sheer musical genius and artistic promise.

Daniel continues to broaden his horizons; obsessively learning and growing into further excellence, both as an artist and technician.

Meet the team!

• Austin Penner: Head Producer/ Audio Engineer

Austin Penner (a.k.a AP), is a producer, DJ, and audio engineer with 9 years of experience in the field, as well as over 15 years of drumming experience.
Rooted musically in hip-hop, R&B, EDM, indie, and rock, his sound crosses genre boundaries with creativity and finesse.

Academically—after moving from Sherwood Park, Alberta—AP achieved a BA in Digital Media Studies from Vancouver Island University where he also played 4 years of university baseball as a starting pitcher.

Having previously been a co-owner of Levo Media, AP draws from experience in the video production field to create convincing soundscapes for multimedia; matching the tone and feeling of any project in a truly custom way.

His portfolio is still garnering depth, as he is currently working with over 10 artists, both locally and abroad, to create and compliment their unique sounds.

• Steven Jackson: Cinematographer/ Accounts Director

Steven Jackson is a Vancouver Island-based Actor and Cinematographer.

Steven fell in love with acting at a young age when he landed the role of a lifetime as Horse Fly in his grade 4 school play: A Bug’s Life.
Steven just recently moved back to the island after spending 5 years honing his craft in Vancouver’s film industry.
Now he’s using that experience here at Apiary.

When Steven isn't filming, editing, or creating content he's most likely surfing or hiking a mountain somewhere with his dog, Indy. He is passionate, creative, and as outgoing as they come.
His vision and pointed aesthetic ensure that—whether he’s catching the perfect wave or creating art for clients—Steven’s moves always look incredible.

• Pelé L.R. Gouda: Editor-in-Chief

A Nanaimo local, Pelé discovered the power of well-produced video through his extensive political involvement.

After having worked in politics since he was 18 years old, he ran for city council in 2018.
And while he was not elected, he did have the most social media attention of any candidate in the steeply crowded race.
This he owed to the distribution of persuasive video content that attracted tens of thousands of eyes and helped shape the city’s political conversation.

Writer. Singer. Editor. Director. Orator.
In any given moment, you’re likely to find Pelé at the intersection of art and meaning, no matter the medium.
With a Bachelor of Arts in politics, extensive experience as a team and community leader, and an unending fire for artistic expression, Pelé has the tools, drive, and expertise to bring your vision to life.
