“Isn’t it time for Europe to move towards a partnership of equals with Africa?” Alexei Jones, Senior Policy Officer at the European Center for Development and Policy Management (ECDPM) says the 6th EU-AU Summit to be held between February 17 and 18 is an opportunity to redefine the relationship between Africa and Europe. Speaking to journalists ahead of the summit, Jones also looks at what is at stake for the EU whose member states will be meeting for the first time without the United Kingdom after BREXIT went into effect in January 2021. He also sheds light on the intellectual property rights of COVID vaccines and the growing anti-French sentiments within parts of Africa.
