It's encouraging to see Blender's Choice The Daily Star OTT & Digital Content Award recognizing and honoring the hard work of various departments that bring our audiovisual content to life. However, it’s concerning that production sound—a crucial aspect of storytelling—is missing from the award categories. The quality of a production depends greatly on capturing clean, believable sound on set, and our production sound recordists are essential to achieving this. With at least 20 dedicated professionals in this field, it’s time we acknowledge their contributions. To truly elevate our content, we must prioritize production sound as a foundational part of sound design. We hope this vital department will be considered for inclusion in next year.
