মাউন্ট এভারেস্ট হল পৃথিবীর সর্বোচ্চ পর্বত, যা হিমালায় পর্বতমালায় অবস্থিত। এটি নেপাল এবং চীনের পশ্চিম এর তিব্বত অঞ্চল এ অবস্থিত । মাউন্ট এভারেস্ট সমুদ্র পৃষ্ঠ হতে ৮৮৪৮,৮৬ মিটার বা ২৯০৩১,৭ ফিট উচ্চতায় অবস্থিত। বহু শতাব্দি ধরে এই পর্বত বহু অ্যাডভেঞ্চার প্রিয় মানুষের কাছে এক বিস্ময়ের বস্তু । ১৮৫২ সালে এটি সর্বোচ্চ পর্বত হিসাবে নির্ণীত হয় । ব্রিটেনের রয়্যাল জিওগ্রাফিক সোসাইটি সর্বপ্রথম এটিকে সর্বোচ্চ পর্বত হিসাবে চিন্হিত করে । রয়্যাল জিওগ্রাফিক সোসাইটি, George Everest এঁর নামানুসারে এই পর্বত এঁর নামকরণ করেন, যিনি ছিলেন ভারত উপমহাদেশের প্রথম Surveyor General । িতব্বেতর এটি “চোমোলাংমা” বা “পৃথিবীর জগৎমাতা” হিসেবে পরিচিত । নেপালে এটি “আকাশের দেবী” হিসাবে পরিচিত । প্রতিকূল পরিবেশ বিরাজ করলেও, এই পর্বত-শৃঙ্গের ৫৭৫০ মিটার পর্যন্ত বিভিন্ন প্রজাতির উদ্ভিদ জন্মাতে দেখা যায় । এ পর্যন্ত প্রায় ৪০০০ আরোহী এই পর্বত চূড়ায় উঠতে পেরেছে । Tenzing Norgay এবং Edmund Hillary সর্বপ্রথম এঁর চূড়া জয় করেন ১৯৫৩ সালে । মাউন্ট এভারেস্টে প্রতি সেঞ্চুরিতে ৪০ সেমি করে বেড়ে চলেছে । পৃথিবীর বিজ্ঞানীরা অনুমান করছেন যে, এভারেস্টের বয়স ৫০ থেকে ৬০ মিলিয়ন বছর। ভারত এবং ইউরেশিয়ান টেকটোনিক প্লেটগুলির সংঘর্ষে তৈরি উর্ধ্বমুখী শক্তির দ্বারা এই পর্বতটি গঠিত হয়েছিল। কামি রিতা শেরপা নামে একজন পর্বতারোহী এই পর্বতে সবচেয়ে বেশী আরোহণ করার সফল প্রচেষ্টার রেকর্ড করেছিলেন। পৃথিবীর সবচেয়ে উঁচু পর্বতশৃঙ্গ মাউন্ট এভারেস্টে ২৭ বারের মতো চড়ে নিজেরই রেকর্ড ভেঙ্গেছেন নেপালি শেরপা কামি রিতা৷ মুসা ইব্রাহীম (জন্ম: ১৯৭৯) একজন বাংলাদেশী পর্বতারোহী এবং সাংবাদিক, যিনি প্রথম বাংলাদেশী হিসেবে মাউন্ট এভারেস্ট জয় করেছেন। প্রথম প্রতিবন্ধী হিসেবে ১৯৯৮ সালে যুক্তরাষ্ট্রের টম হুইটেকার এভারেস্টের চূড়ায় উঠেন। একটি কৃত্রিম পা নিয়েও তিনি এভারেস্ট জয় করে বিশ্ববাসীকে চমকে দেন। ৮,০০০ মিটারের উপরের জোনটি পর্বতারোহীদের মধ্যে "ডেথ জোন" নামে পরিচিত। যেখানে অক্সিজেন এত কম যে প্রতি মিনিট অতিবাহিত হওয়ার সাথে সাথে শরীর অচল হয়ে যেতে শুরু করে। ডেথ জোনে, পর্বতারোহীরা মস্তিষ্ক এবং ফুসফুসে অক্সিজেনের ঘাটতি বোধ করে ও তাদের হার্ট অ্যাটাক এবং স্ট্রোকের ঝুঁকি বৃদ্ধি পায়। পর্বতারোহীরা শীর্ষে পৌঁছতে পরিপূরক অক্সিজেন ব্যবহার করেন।

In 1826, he successfully captured the world's first permanent photograph using a camera obscura and a bitumen-coated plate. Although the process took several hours of exposure, this marked a pivotal moment in the history of photography.
