Subject (3) Our electricity system 90% of it is now owned off shore.

Our electricity costs around 10 cents per KWh to generate but the price to industry and to the people of Australia is around 350% more, add the daily supply charge of say $1.25 a KWh X by 365 days of the year and multiply that by perhaps around 11 million accounts, it is 6 billion dollars. This would make the electricity mark up to perhaps 450 % from the cost price. This is a public scandal.

Now to give you some information so you can unravel our electricity marketing complex :

Australia’s wholesale electricity
The national electricity market (NEM)

There are two ways to buy and sell electricity in the NEM wholesale market: through the spot market and the contract market.

The spot market is the mechanism that AEMO uses to match the supply of electricity from power stations. The spot price is les than 10 cents per Kwh in Australia

The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) manages the day-to-day operations of the markets. This would seem to be a desirable operation. However we are not told their claimed operating costs, presumably it is a secret.

The Australian Energy Regulator (AER) monitors performance and compliance with the rules.

I did a calculation for the maintenance of all the Electricity infrastructure in Australia and it seems the daily supply charge adding up to $6 billion would be enough to cover the maintenance of our national electricity infrastructure.

So the power supply companies generating the power are making little profit at 10 cents per KWh but the distributors of electricity who are monopolies as they have no competition in their areas. Red Energy is the only Australian owned company but the others are owned by off shore companies.

We have been having seemingly endless power failures and the excuse given by AusNet was that our infrastructure was so old. What rubbish Australia’s electricity infrastructure is around the same age as every other country in the world.

Since the Australian governments have sold off large exclusive areas of power grids, each area owner then became a monopoly of that area and now endeavour to make as much money as possible. The electricity price is limited only by the Australian Energy Regulator (AER).

Previous Victorian owners of these areas were built and maintained by the State Electricity Commission of Victoria. They built almost all of the infrastructure and maintained it very well.

Now the off shore owners repair daily faults but apparently have no need to modernise or up-grade the infrastructure. Their eastern Victoria area has had 16 or 17 black outs in 8 months and only on 2 occasions was these power failures due to storms of any magnitude.

One of these power failure lasted almost 24 hours. After 23 hours of that failure I drove around to see what was taking so long to repair, I soon found two maintenance electricians sitting in their truck (who were from Wodonga) sitting in their truck carrying on social talk. There was a single power wire laying on the ground in front of them.

Years ago when the SEC owned the power infra - structure and there was a power failure, perhaps from a storm, it was repaired and the power back on in 1 ½ hours to 2 hours.

Now, 10 out of 49 companies. China Huaneng Group Co Ltd, China Datang Corp, China Energy Investment Corp Ltd, State Power Investment Corp Ltd, and China Three Gorges Corp are the top 5 Power Plant Owners in China by active capacity (as of March 31, 2022).

We believe the upper cost of Electricity in the whole of Australia should be no more than 25 cents per KWh. That is over 250% more than the cost of generating the electricity. Then there is the daily supply charge of between $1 and $1.25. Multiply that figure by the 365 days in a year and over 1,1 million accounts then that figure is around $6 billion, more than the cost of maintenance Australia wide.

Power companies will claim they have the cost of infrastructure to all the 1000’s of new homes every year. This is not true, the new developer pays for that which is then included in the cost of each new building block. In the case of rural farm properties, the owner of that property pays for that infrastructure in full.

NO PLAN SO NOTHING WILL HAPPEN 😡😡😡

Since our government have no significant plans for our electricity supply, the writer of this first major topic. This not an empty comment, the writer does have an 8 year workable plan to rebuild and modernise our electricity infrastructure. With your support over the next year we can have reliable power at 25 cents per KWh and that includes that price to South Australians too.

Aboriginal ‘Dream Time’ has become a nightmare for progress

Work on Australia’s most expensive resources project has been halted because of the danger it poses to Spirit Whales.

Woodside Energy Group has been ordered to halt work on a $16b gas project off the coast of Western Australia that, if completed, will power 8.5 million homes for the next 30 years.

But the Federal Court ordered work to stop after hearing evidence the area was home to mythical whales.

The Spirit Whales, according to Indigenous fables, tell the fish of the sea what to eat, when to mate and where to migrate.

If the gas project was to go ahead, the Spirit Whales would be endangered.

And if the Spirit Whales were killed, none of the creatures of the sea would know what do to.

Short of Aqua Man stepping in to save the day, the planet would be sunk.

How did the Federal Court know all of this?

Raelene Cooper!
Ms Cooper, or as her activist friends like to call her, the Custodian of Whale Dreaming, speaks to the Spirit Whales.

And they speak to her.

Seriously.

This was in evidence presented to the Federal Court.

Apparently the Spirit Whales aren’t thrilled about the Woodside Energy Group’s project which, coincidentally, puts the Spirit Whales and environmentalists on exactly the same page.

Whoever would have imagined?

The Environmental Defenders Office, a group that received $8m in public money to help it oppose projects benefiting the public, brought Cooper’s Spirit Whale baloney to the urgent attention of the Federal Court.

Even Nemo knows that the greenies at the EDO don’t buy the Spirit Whale crap.

But that doesn’t mean they won’t manipulate Indigenous mythology and those who sprout it to stop major projects.

So the case was put to the court of Australia.“ … but Your Honour, the Spirit Whales!”

And Judge Craig Colvin, whilst not confirming or denying that Spirit Whales existed, ruled that Woodside had a duty to consider “cultural harm” caused by their project.

Now what I think that means is that whilst absolutely no-one believes that Spirit Whales exist, it would be against the law to upset the wild fantasies of a woman who imagines she talks to whales.

Because the woman is Indigenous.

And evidently Indigenous fantasies must be indulged, as a mark of respect.

Woodside argued that they had invested significant time, energy and money liaising closely with Indigenous groups for more than a decade. And yet this was the first it had heard that Spirit Whales were blowing their lids over the project.

Woodside had done all of the environmental checks and had been given clearance to begin the project.

Not so fast, ruled Judge Colvin.

He ordered Woodside to conduct a more thorough environmental assessment of the project. In other words, work out terms with the Spirit Whales.

Oh, and Woodside were ordered to pay Ms Cooper’s costs

We really don’t deserve this country if we condone this rubbish. Fancy giving em Court time so they can give their Dreamtime evidence under oath. And we fund their lawyers

WELCOME TO Saving Australia ….. Discussion Guidelines here in:

Australia as a country is one of the best countries in the world in which to live, but Is it sustainable ?

Our Federal Government seems to be mainly concerned with domestic issues, what they are doing is just like throwing lollies to the people so they get re-elected in the near future. (Check item 1 below)

Our tax receipts total over a trillion dollars and our international trading balance is quite healthy, perhaps you might think – then alls well – (check item 2 below).

The purpose of this opening contribution is to identify the several major areas we should be discussing, not necessarily to assert blame but in making this forum available is to seek ideas and well thought through plans from the intelligent people among us.

Our government seems to have no 5, 10 or 20 year plans,

NO PLAN = SO NOTHING WILL HAPPEN.

Suggested Subjects for Discussion:

(1) Why are no politicians ex business owners, business knowledge or experience?
(2) Our known mineral reserves, what will happen to when they are all gone ?
(3) Our electricity system 90% of it is now owned off shore.
(4) Wages, indirect wage costs and small business survival.
(5) Why are so many of our immigrants unemployable
(6) Most international companies in Australia can avoid paying tax in Australia by price transfer. Let this site wake up our treasurer.
