Ramping up Production, Catalina Odyssey’s first feature film, ‘Light/Waves’, a uniquely atmospheric swashbuckling journey of self-discovery.

Inspired by the works of John Carpenter, Hayao Miyazaki, and ‘80s Amblin Cinema, ‘Light/Waves’ follows a disgraced Californian parapsychologist to an uncharted Nordic island on a quest to reconnect with the dead, only to conjure up newer spirits in the process.

A rollicking meditative pulp horror at heart, production is slated to commence along the rich natural landscapes of New South Wales’ North and South Coasts.

Now in development, the first limited series from Catalina Odyssey, Topanga.

Starring award winning stand-out Dylan Stumer (The Last Day, Dance of the Devils, Lola Cooper Needs A Boyfriend), Topanga follows an up-and-coming Brisbane-based actor as he navigates the challenging neon-soaked world of the city’s acting scene in one adventurous night of self-discovery.

A touching emotional dramedy which aims to shine a genuine spotlight on the actor’s journey and vibrant cultural landscape of South East Queensland’s passionate arts sector, Topanga is slated to commence production on-location in Brisbane, Australia.

Now in development, another dynamic feature from Catalina Odyssey… ‘Knight of the Wolf’.

Set amongst the snowy alpine foothills of the European Alps at the height of the Second World War, ‘Knight of the Wolf’ follows a lone female resistance member in race against time to deliver stolen art back to her people as Axis Forces, otherworldly evils, and an omen from her past, ‘The Wolf’, lie in wait.

A dark fantasy adventure thriller inspired by the cinema of Andrei Tarkovsky, Quentin Tarantino, and Guillermo del Toro, propelled by ancient Folklore and primordial Myth.

Starring classically trained stand-out Tahlia Downs (Dance of the Devils, Occupation: Rainfall, NBC’s Young Rock), production is slated to commence across South East Queensland, Southern NSW, and Victoria’s High Country alpine region.

Resuming production in 2022, Catalina Odyssey’s ‘Sacred Sands’, a spellbinding psychotropic thrill ride through the crimson whirlwind, across the forever dunes.

Inspired by 1960’s acid westerns and gritty avant-garde ’70’s thrillers, our kinetic pulp adventure follows two fortune seekers in a battle of whits across the harshest of environments after the biggest find of their careers.

From an ambitiously dynamic soundstage set-piece to the windblown desert-hued moonscapes of one of South East Queensland’s most transformative National Parks, ‘Sacred Sands’ represents a major leap forward for Catalina Odyssey and the first step into a stranger universe...

“Being a q***r creative means helping in any way I can to get more LGBT+ stories told.”

“As a q***r creative my identity motivates me each day to strive towards contributing anything I can towards of the community. My main goal is to be able to create something that people can watch and see themselves in and experience that joy of seeing yourself portrayed in the media.”- Alastair Butterworth

‘‘I know I have stories to tell, and stories that only I can tell.”

“Being a q***r storyteller means I can express my emotions and thoughts on specific topics that can be quiet touchy for most filmmakers to tell. Especially as a POC q***r film maker, it feels like I can use my voice through film to stand up for what I believe in.

It empowers me because it gives me a platform to use my voice in a way that I know to not back down from.” - Riku Case

“Storytelling to me has always been purely about reflecting reality.”

“Now that prejudice towards the LGBTQ+ community is becoming less common, I want to help grow the representation of the community even further. Not as an archetype of what's come before, but as a view of what we are today and what we will be tomorrow. Because if I can help someone out there feel a little more understood, or assist someone in bridging an objectivity they've put up; I'd be proud of myself as an artist and a storyteller.” - Nathan Marshall
