Emma Cooper has been appointed Chair of Australians in Film (AiF) in Los Angeles.

AiF is a leading non-profit Foundation that supports and promotes Australian Screen talent. As Chair, Cooper will help lead the organisation, continuing AiF's mission to foster the growth and quality of Australia's most powerful export - creativity.

Special night in Los Angeles celebrating The Power of the Dog in the lead up to the Oscars.

So proud to sit on the board of Australians in Film and of the amazing work they do discovering, recognising and celebrating Australian artists globally.

Last night’s celebration was a big shout out to and the entire team, helmed by who brought this powerful story to the screen.

A beautiful evening at the Sydney Theatre Company Lights Up Gala at the Wharf Theatres. It was the first time since 2016 that the STC has been able to host a fundraiser. The space was transformed into a celestial wonderland to celebrate the industry and STC artists.

An inspiring evening with celebrity auctioneer Justin Miller and special guests Mia Wasikowska, Heather Mitchell and Ewan Leslie. Artistic Director Kip Williams and new Co-CEO Anne Dunn took the opportunity to shine a light on the STC - Education School Drama program.

It was inspiring to see so many guests digging deep to support the STC community after such a difficult few years for the Arts.

Looking forward to the STC and theatres across the world being full again as they launch their 2022 season.

From our Founder, Emma Cooper

I had the opportunity to work with Kodi in Pittsburgh very early on in his career, when he was cast as Viggo Mortensen’s son in The Road, directed by John Hillcoat.

We were filming in Winter and it was bleak and freezing (particularly for an Aussie!) I remember shooting one scene where his character had to fall into a creek. The temperatures were below zero. He was asked if he wanted to use his double but he insisted on doing it himself.

Kodi showed such strength, maturity and talent and I am so thrilled he is being recognised around the world for his compelling and tender performance in Jane Campion's Power of The Dog.

We wish him all the very best in the lead up to the BAFTA and .

Young, introverted, pale and whippet-thin Aussie actor Kodi Smit-McPhee is revealing that the expectations of what we look for in a leading man from Down Under is finally changing.

We are delighted to announce that Naomi Watts has been nominated for a Film Critics Circle of Australia Award (FCCA) award for her starring role in Penguin Bloom.

The Film Critics Circle of Australia is the national professional body of film critics and film journalists in Australia. Their annual awards are voted on by all FCCA members and are truly independent, voted on solely by film critics. This has led to the Awards being highly respected for recognising and rewarding originality and excellence in all its categories.

We are so proud of Naomi who also served as a producer on the film. A huge shout out to fellow nominee Sam Chiplin who is up for Best Cinematography. Good luck to you both.

The winners will be announced on January 31st. Stand by!

Congratulations Rahel Romahn on being the winning recipient of the 2021 Heath Ledger Scholarship (HLS).

Created and developed by Australians in Film (AiF), the HLS creates an incredible opportunity for emerging actors to be recognised internationally and has been the stepping stone for so many of our leading Australian actors - Ashleigh Cummings, Mojean Aria and the 2019 winner Charmaine Bingwa who costars in The Good Fight and who recently joined Will Smith in the cast of Emancipation directed by Antoine Fuqua.

We wish Rahel a brilliant future alongside all of these talented recipients. We are certain you will go on to inspire the next generation of Australian talent.

A shout out to our amazing judges thank you all so much!

Our producer Emma Cooper and fellow producer Rebel Penfold-Russell attended the opening of The Australians & Hollywood Exhibition at the NFSA - National Film and Sound Archive of Australia

An amazing collection of Australian film memorabilia including costumes worn by Jacki Weaver in Animal Kingdom, gowns worn by Nicole Kidman and designed by Catherine Martin from Moulin Rouge, (including her original sketches) and costumes worn by Jessica Mauboy, Miranda Tapsell and Deborah Mailman in The Sapphires.

Such a great journey behind-the-scenes into films like Dead Calm and Mad Max and the careers of Cate Blanchett, David Michod and the late David Gulpilil.

“I loved how this exhibition brought back so many great memories from some of my favourite films as well as highlighting the immensely talented and creative Australians who contribute to this industry on a world stage. It was fun to get a sneak peek into Baz and Catherine's diaries during production and see the original wooden make-up kit from Mad Max as well as original props."

The exhibition will run until July 17. For more information on the exhibition and to book tickets, visit nfsa.gov.au/hollywood

2021 was a trying year for many people and our hearts go out to everyone in need of love, companionship and care.

At the start of this year Broadtalk celebrated the release of Penguin Bloom in cinemas around the world and on Netflix. Penguin Bloom showed us that resilience, perseverance and our connection to nature, are essential to keeping the human spirit alive.

Broadtalk is excited to continue to bring Australian voices and talent to the world. We are currently in development on some exciting projects and look forward to sharing these in 2022.

We wish you peace, joy and most importantly good health going into 2022.

If you haven't yet, watch this truly unique and inspiring story.

Penguin Bloom is based on the Australian best-selling book of the same name and tells the story of Sam Bloom and her family after a tragic incident in Thailand that left her paralysed from the chest down.

While the family struggles to adapt, an injured baby magpie enters their life, helping them heal and profoundly changing everything.

If you didn't catch Penguin Bloom at the cinema, catch this unique and inspiring film on Amazon Prime Video (Australia) and Netflix (other regions). A heartwarming Australian story not to be missed.

Harry Cripps, the incredibly talented screenwriter of Penguin Bloom, has written and co-directed the animated family film 𝗕𝗮𝗰𝗸 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝘂𝘁𝗯𝗮𝗰𝗸 available now on Netflix.

Tired of being locked in a reptile house where humans gawk at them like they're monsters, a group of Australia's deadliest creatures plot a daring escape from their zoo to the Outback. Isla Fisher, Jacki Weaver, Miranda Tapsell and Eric Bana voice some of the lead characters with performances by Keith Urban and Kylie Minogue.

Harry co-wrote the screenplay for Penguin Bloom alongside Shaun Grant and won Best Adapted Screenplay in Film at this year's AACTA Awards for The Dry.

Back to the Outback has taken over Netflix's rankings becoming the #1 film on Netflix Kids in America and the #2 film on Netflix Australia.

The perfect family film for this holiday season only on Netflix. Congratulations Harry.
