What a thrill for Ryan from and Director/Producer of the series Brendan Hutchens to meet legend James Cameron at the in conversation event yesterday at Fremantle Passenger Terminal / Fremantle Port. Really insightful and inspiring conversation - but the best bit was Ryan and James having a chat and swapping near death shipwreck dive stories! 😃🧜‍♂️ Thanks so much to the WA Museum Boola Bardip WA Maritime Museum team and the WA Museum foundation for an awesome event and the opportunity to meet James. Big win at the Australian Screen Sound Guild Awards! Congratulations to the Shipwreck Hunters Australia sound team! Sound is such an important part of our adventures. Not easy in demanding conditions above and below the surface. Incredible field sound operators worked on the series and it was all brought together by the team at Envelope Audio who did an incredible job on the sound design, mix, narration record with narrator and supply of much of the music. This is fantastic recognition for a bunch of dedicated professionals who gave their all. Awesome news. This was one of those special moments that happened while diving in amazingly calm and clear conditions in deep water to the west of the Dampier Archipelago in Western Australia. A pod of dolphins came from nowhere and circled the team, checking everyone out. They stuck around for a good 30 to 40 minutes and everyone calmly watched them move through the crystal clear water. Dreaming of The Dampier Archipelago. Wow what an incredible place. A coastal wonderland of 42 islands and islets teeming with marine wildlife. An incredibly biodiverse area and we had the most amazing conditions and didn’t want to leave! Take a trip to the Dampier Archipelago in episode one of Shipwreck Hunters Australia, named after British explorer William Dampier who surveyed the area in 1699, but known for much longer as Murujuga for Yaburara First Nations traditional owners, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia. Absolutely spectacular. Streaming now only on Disney+

There’s no one quite like Captain Ash. A highly skilled skipper, just as comfortable on a JetSki, in the water or telling a shipwreck tale. His knowledge of the Abrolhos Islands coupled with that of the highly respected Liddon family who have operated there for generations, made sure the mission was well executed and absolutely awesome!!!! What an adventure it was exploring the Survivors of Stefano story along the Ningaloo coast. The road trip, the diving, the marine wildlife, swimming ashore to a remote beach where the survivors washed up, then learning from First Nations Traditional Owners Hazel, Gwen and Paul about surviving off the land. Every mission starts with research. The team were supported by expert maritime archaeologists from the Western Australian Museum. Dr Ross Anderson and Dr Deb Shefi brought their knowledge and skills to every search and every dive. Shipwreck pioneering legends like Jeremy Green also contributed a great deal of information and encouragement and many others who were involved on camera and behind the scenes. The telling of these incredible historical stories comes together through the work of divers, researchers, archaeologists and enthusiasts over many years. We love shipwreck stories!!!
