This profile is the official page for VicRock.com.au, a website that was started in 2002 to promote everything to do with 50’s and 60’s rock and roll music and dance. There are big changes coming to the VicRock website in the next couple of months when the operating software will be upgraded. See the info link above for more information. • Members will be able to able to use their profile page as an information page about their rock and roll interests or business. If they don't have a web site they may link to their profile from the links directory and promote their business to anyone browsing the links directory.
• The current photo album system will change. Members can have photo albums accessed from their profile page, each of which can be made either public or private.
• Members may make different parts of their profiles either public or private.
• Logged in members will be able to able to leave comments (chat) on each other’s profile pages just like here on Facebook.
• Members will be able to able to have a Facebook like friends list – refer and confirm a friend, etc.
• Members will be able to display YouTube videos in their profile. Members who are also members of Facebook will be able to connect their account to their site profile. After posting or replying to threads in the forums they may choose whether the post goes on their Facebook wall as well. Social groups within the site. Members will be able to able to create their own social/interest group on the site with their own group messaging system and photo albums. Some suggestions for groups are:
• Social get togethers – maybe once a month dinners at a music venue somewhere
• Car clubs
• Hospitality exchange (if you have a spare room in your home). You stay at my place in my state during an event (or festival) and I stay at your place in your state for a similar occasion at a later date.
• Singles/dating/find a dance partner
• Band/performer fan clubs
A shop or classifieds section for businesses or individuals that have products to sell.
• For sale, wanted or auction
• Bands are able to list their cd’s
• Musicians are able to buy and sell equipment
• Merchandisers may list a little or a lot of their products which may be linked to their own website/shopping cart. Newsletter:
The current newsletter format will change. There will only be one a week and it will be a proper newsletter, not notices. It will have the news headlines from the VicRock website as well as a weekly gig guide. The information for the gig guide will be automatically added from the Gig/Events calendar. This means bands and event organisers that aren’t yet adding their events to the calendar should start doing so if they want to have the gig information delivered to VicRock members inboxes once a week.
