If you have spoken out about the importance of recognising female filmmakers and actors in the wake of the Barbie movie controversy, please also remember to speak up about the women in Gaza. Don’t forget our most vulnerable and suffering sisters. They need our voices more than ever.

The last remaining operating hospital in Gaza is under attack.

Journalist Bisan just posted a live video stating it may be her last - the sound of bombs and tanks all around and tens of thousands of people, many already injured from previous attacks, trying to flee but there is nowhere safe left to go.

One day people will ask, where were you when Palestine was wiped off the map? Didn’t you know it was happening? Why didn’t you care?

At an abandoned zoo in Rafah, in Gaza’s southern strip, displaced Palestinians whose lives were torn apart by bombs have found refuge among the animals.

In this unlikely location people have found shelter, connection, and brief respite from the ceaseless bombings. And to the starving animals trapped in their enclosures, the Palestinian people they now share their homes with bring a glimmer of comfort and hope.

“Living among the animals is more merciful than what we get from the warplanes in the sky”, says Adel Gomaa, who fled the bombardment of Gaza city.

One of the photographs taken by the amazing Palestinian photographer Motaz Azaiza in Gaza has been named one of the top ten of the year by TIME magazine 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤️ Of course we know Motaz is talented, but his sensitivity is what makes his coverage of this genocide so truly remarkable. Every day that he shares the stories, the truth, of Gaza and Palestine, he is shining light into a very dark world. Unfortunately this work comes at great personal cost and the violence continues every day in Gaza. But thanks to Motaz, Palestine now beats in the hearts of millions around the world ❤️🍉🇵🇸

Gaza's night is dark apart from the glow of rockets,
quiet apart from the sounds of the bombs,
terrifying apart from the comfort of prayer,
black apart from the light of the martyrs.
Good night, Gaza.
~ Heba Abu Nada's final tweet.

Since October 7, Israel has killed at least thirteen Palestinian poets and writers in Gaza. They—just like the more than 68 Palestinian journalists killed in Gaza in the line of duty; just like every one of the more than 21,000 innocent people massacred in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel over the past 75 days—deserve to be remembered. And the stories of their lives, the lives of Palestine, deserve to be told.

In "Gaza Asks: When Shall this Pass?", Dr Refaat Alareeer wrote: It shall pass, I keep hoping. It shall pass, I keep saying. Sometimes I don't. And as Gaza keeps gasping for life, we struggle for it to pass, we have no choice but to fight back, and to tell her stories. For Palestine.

The genocide in Gaza has now escalated. The city has been separated into sections and people are unable to move between areas or to safety. Those on the ground say there is nowhere safe left to go, and that the Israeli tanks are surrounding them.

The brave Palestinian journalists who risked their own lives to show the world what is happening have finally lost hope. They are waiting for an inevitable end.

Their heroic work fell on deaf ears. The endless footage of murdered children and bombed hospitals and grieving families and untold suffering were not enough. The protests and blockades around the world were not enough.

The plight of Gaza has exposed the facade that our world leaders care about morality, democracy, humanity. The bought media has revealed its insidious bias. The failure of humanitarian organisations remind us we are at the mercy of our governments.

Palestine is not free, and neither are we.
