Update: The stolen car app is still in production. It allows you to search a wide database of stolen cars, and returns information on the numberplate such as below. We currently have 2165 cars from around Australia in the database, many of which are not found and remain stolen.
In eventuality, it would be awesome to integrate the database with home security cameras and the like, so you can stay safe and be notified if a stolen car has come to steal any of your belongings. Also, this will further notify the owner and police of the cars’ whereabouts.
The database can easily be updated, and features will be added so when criminals change the plates, even to bogus plates, it can be updated.
Care will be taken to ensure bad actors do not have access to the database, and it abides by all concerns of data privacy and the like.
It is currently only in the prototyping phase.
