“The Tour of Hope”
AUSTRALIAN and CANADIAN CULTURAL EXCHANGE DOWN UNDER 2023
Kerry Goulet and Marie Shaw present “The Tour of Hope” which is landing in Sydney on July 9th, 2023. The tour will feature the Kaurna Boomerangs playing Team Canada Indigenous from the Woodland Cree Hockey Club, in the first ever Indigenous international ice hockey game Down Under. The journey will be an ice hockey event with a cultural exchange and will travel throughout Australia....Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, and Adelaide. This is a once-in-a-lifetime dream. It is a cultural exchange to help our indigenous youth know there is hope and a better life through education and sport.

Do you have a passion for ice hockey?

If you haven’t heard, we are making a movie inspired by the feats of the Kaurna Boomerangs – Australia’s first Indigenous ice hockey team!

It’s an amazing underdog story of personal and professional triumph and it promises to be an incredibly inspiring and moving film. The film aims to shine a light on the resilience and strength of the team, as they come together to pursue their dreams and challenge stereotypes while sharing Indigenous culture with the world.

We believe this film has the potential to be a real game-changer, and it’s our hope that the film will be an inspiration for every Indigenous young person and showcase the work that Ice Factor SA is doing to support disengaged, and at risk youth.

But to make it a reality, we need your help. We are running a crowdfunding campaign to raise funds for pre-production costs, and we are still a long way from our goal.

If you're able to contribute, even just a small amount, it would mean the world to us. Every little bit helps, and together we can make a difference. Every donation is tax deductible and for a limited time your donation will effectively be doubled thanks to one of our donors who is matching all new donations up to the value of $50,000 up until 31 May 2023.

Please check out our donation link https://tinyurl.com/DesertIcefilm and consider making a donation.

Thank you so much for your support, and let's make this film happen!

Today is Closing the Gap Day! We reflect on the need for greater equality and opportunities for Indigenous Australians. On this day, we celebrate the achievements of Australia's first Indigenous ice hockey team, the Kaurna Boomerangs, who have shown us that anything is possible with passion, dedication, and teamwork.

Let's continue to work towards closing the gap and creating a more inclusive society. Let's support and empower Indigenous Australians to achieve their dreams and aspirations.
