BluVein's technology is game-changing technology as it provides power directly to the vehicles when it's most needed (ie. hauling loaded uphill). This enables electric equipment to have much smaller & fewer batteries, saving on battery cost and simplifying logistics compared to battery swapping.
There is great interest in the technology from the mining industry. This is shown by the financial backing they have received from some of the biggest mining companies around, including BHP, Agnico Eagle Mines Limited, AngloGold Ashanti, Glencore, Newcrest Mining Limited, Northern Star Kalgoorlie Operations, OZ Minerals, South32 & Vale.
They have also been supported by equipment suppliers, and recently signed an MoU with Epiroc to provide a vehicle for testing.
Other OEMs such as Sandvik, Maclean Engineering & Volvo Group have also been working closely with the BluVein team. They want to ensure the technology is OEM agnostic (ie. it will work on any electric equipment)
More info on the BluVein technology can be found on their website here: https://bluvein.com/

What is MaxMine Carbon?
Brett spoke with Asha Black (from MaxMine) recently. Listen along in the latest episode of the Mining Green #podcast
The focus of our chat was MaxMine Carbon which helps open-pit mines reduce their carbon emissions by up to 20%, by reducing their diesel fuel usage in their haul fleets (whilst maintaining production).
Worth a look for anyone working in the open-pit mining space to help save on diesel usage, carbon emissions, and operating costs.
Their Carbon Calculator is a great free tool to benchmark how much room your mine has to improve.
Great to hear from an #innovative, #australian company based in our home city of #adelaide

Gravity Energy Storage - Interview with Marco Terruzzin (Energy Vault)
Another episode of the Mining Green #podcast is live!
In this episode, Brett speaks to Marco Terruzzin from Energy Vault about their gravity energy storage system.
A very exciting technology that we should see rolling out in 2022, with many benefits compared to other energy storage alternatives, such as batteries & pumped hydro.
✔ Low cost (upfront CAPEX & ongoing OPEX)
✔ Highly scalable (GWh+)
✔ Flexible
✔ No degradation in the storage medium
✔ Safe & sustainable (energy storage bricks can be made out of locally sourced materials, even waste materials)

Mine Electrification - Interview with Graeme Stanway (Electric Mine Consortium)
Our first episode of the Mining Green podcast is live!
In this episode, Brett speaks to Graeme Stanway (Slate Advisory) about the Electric Mine Consortium (EMC).
The EMC was set up as a collaboration between mining companies, OEMs, and technology providers to help facilitate the transition to an electric mine.
Members include Gold Fields Australia, South32, OZ Minerals, IGO Ltd, Sandvik, Epiroc, Newcrest Mining Limited, Blackstone Minerals Limited, Barminco Ltd, Energy Vault, Zeroautomotive, Zenith Energy Pty Limited and VivoPower.
A lot of ground was covered in the interview; why the EMC was set up, how it operates, and its attraction to its members.
We also covered higher-level topics such as fostering innovative & collaborative thinking, applying carbon pricing in studies, and rethinking mining for electrification. And in the highlight video above, we discuss the appetite for decarbonisation in the mining industry.
Full details (and the full-length interview) can be found in our blog post here: https://www.inspiritconsult.com.au/blog/2022/03/24/graeme-stanway-electric-mine-consortium/
