"We cannot move to 2028 without addressing the disputed elections of 2023"-Chamisa
Zimbabwe's opposition leader Nelson Chamisa says the Southern African Development Community (Sadc) leaders have a duty to ensure that President Emmerson Mnangagwa does not continue as if it is business as usual when they have openly condemned last year’s disputed general elections that brought him back to power.
Chamisa says Sadc cannot condone and endorse what they have already condemned.
This puts Sadc leaders under scrutiny as they prepare to meet in Harare for their annual summit in August.

One of the self-evident manifestations of Zimbabwe’s failure under Zanu PF's 44-year rule is infrastructure collapse.
Infrastructure deterioration can
indeed be a stark indicator of regression in development.
While trains were introduced well more than 100 years ago, they have now stopped working in some sections of the railways due to extended periods of neglect and collapse, tracks dislocation, obstacles on the rail lines and dysfunctional signalling systems.

The mortuary at Makumbe Mission Hospital in Domboshava, the largest medical institution in Goromonzi district, Mashonaland East province, has a carrying capacity for only three bodies - that for a medical facility with a catchment area of about 600 000 people.
A morgue attendant at the hospital told members of the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Health and Child Care that there is a serious crisis on how to accommodate bodies of the dead once they are more than three at a time.
Corpses are usually dumped on the hospital floor if three bodies from across the district - some from 100km away - arrive for storage before burial.
The mortuary cannot cater for more than half a million people living in the district.
Goromonzi is one of nine districts in the province.
The catchment area for the hospital, which is located 32 kilometres north-east of Harare, is about 600 000 people.
It covers an area totalling 2 459 square kilometres or 254 072 hectares.
The health sector is currently in intensive care unit facing dire challenges, including a shortage of medical supplies, lack of funding and brain drain as healthcare professionals emigrate en masse.
