Chirundu Police Traffic has recorded a serious Road Traffic Accident (R.T.A) involving Six vehicles and passengers, which occurred yesterday Sunday December 3, 2023 at around 12:00 hours, along Chirundu-Kafue Road in kapilingozi Hills.
Involved were,
1. Joe Hansi aged 48 of City Frontier transport Ndola who was driving a Sino Howo truck Registration Number BCE 9743 ZM, Trailer number BCF 9872 ZM and BCF 988 ZM loaded with Copper cathodes who was driving from West to East. The driver sustained minor injuries and the horse extensively damaged while the copper load spread on the road.
2. Peter Zulu aged 39 of Chirundu Police Station who was driving a Toyota Axio Registration Number AEB 3895 ZM who was driving from East to west along Chirundu- Kafue Road who sustained general body pains and his motor vehicle was extensively damaged. Also involved were three juveniles aged three, five and 12 who were passengers on a Toyota Axio who sustained serious body injuries.
3. Mutavesu Henry aged 33 of house number 861 Dvli Beti bridge South Africa who had parked his motor vehicle Registration number FLR 966 a Volvo truck, trailer number FPF 901L and FPF 094L.The driver sustained painful waist and the front part of the horse was extensively damaged.
4. Naomi Lusambo aged 30 of Kanyelele compound in Siavonga who was driving a Toyota Vitz Registration number BAV 7770 from East to West who escaped unhurt. A passenger in a Toyota Vitz Sherry Mwale aged 20 sustained a big cut on the forehead.
5. Jackson Siabasimbi aged 32 of Chirundu who was driving a Mitsubishi Canter Registration number AEB 3868 ZM, escaped unhurt but had his motor vehicle damaged on the right side of the trailer.
6. Shepherd Chinyama a Zimbabwean National aged 34 of house number 445 Wood Park Gweru, Zimbabwe who was driving a Scania Registration number FPP941L, trailer FLG Registration number 523L and FLG566L, he escaped unhurt but had his three tyres from the right side his trailer damaged.
All victims who sustained serious injuries were rushed are admitted at Mutendere Mission Hospital in Chirundu District.
The accident occurred when the first driver Joe Hansi aged 48 of City Frontier Transport Ndola who was driving a Sino Howo truck Registration number BCE 9743 ZM, from West to East, Failed to keep to his lane in the process he went to the right side of the lane and hit into five other motor vehicles which were in the queue.

An accident at one of the black mountains on the Copperbelt has been reported. It has been reported that a number of about 30 and more people illegal miners has been buried alive.

Preliminary reports reaching our station indicates that indeed the accident has happened but a comprehensive report from the Police is yet to be instituted.

The unveiling of a Vendor to install Local Area Networks (LAN)by Smart Zambia to the Luapula Province leadership.
The occasion was graced by the Deputy Permanent Secretary, the District Commissioner and other government officials. The vendor was unveiled and works are scheduled to start soon. This will benefit most of the districts countrywide.

IGNORE ILLEGALITIES BEING COMMITTED BY MILES SAMPA.

We have noted that an illegal activity is being held by suspended Matero MP, Miles Sampa at Mulungushi International Conference in the name of the Patriotic Front.

We must emphasise that Mr. Sampa remains suspended from the Party and can not therefore hold any function or activity in the name of the Patriotic Front.

This activity taking place at Mulungushi International Conference is illegal and against the PF Party Constitution.

The Constitution is very clear on how the General Conference or Extra-Ordinary General Conference are called and held.

This issue was reported to the Police on Monday as persons masquerading as members of the Party were due to hold an illegal meeting.

We are aware and have evidence that this is a state sponsored activity and is meant to destabilize the Patriotic Front in particular and the Opposition in general.

We understand that the UPND top leadership sponsoring this process have mooted what they are calling an "MDC plot" against the PF, whereby a parallel Patriotic Front will be created, sponsored, and supported by the UPND and State House.

The MDC Plot is wereby, a faction of MDC led by Welsh Ncube of Zimbabwe was created against the legitimate MDC party led by Mr. Morgan Tsvangirai.

Therefore Mr. Sampa is a mere stooge in this process as it is a UPND Operation.

We have seen the heavy presence of Police that has been deployed at Mulungushi for Mr. Sampa to hold this illegal activity.

This is a clear attack against Democracy and its growth.

In 1991, the Zambian people decided that this country will be a multiparty democracy and the UPND must respect the will of Zambians.

Since 2021 the UPND and State House have been engaged in concerted activities designed to destroy the Opposition.

As we have warned before, today's activity is part of a larger plot against the Opposition targeting the 2026 elections.

Organs such as the Electoral Commission of Zambia, the National Registration Office and the Registrar of Societies are all part of this larger scheme as exposed earlier.

We urge our members to remain calm and peaceful during this period.

This chaos being perpetrated by Mr. Sampa, like the earlier activity to storm and damage the party Secretariat, will be dealt with.

HEADMASTER FOUND CHANTING AT DECEASED PUPILS GRAVE

POLICE in Rufunsa are keeping David Mapulande, a headmaster at Chimusanya Secondary School, for his own safety after villagers pounced on him on allegations that he had a hand in the death of a Grade 12 pupil who died mysteriously.

On August 11, 2023 around 05:00 hours, Mr Mapulande was allegedly found by some villagers chanting on the grave of the teenager.

The villagers approached him and asked him why he had things which looked like charms at the grave of the boy.

The head teacher was found kneeling on David Tembo’s burial site by five women who were collecting firewood within the burial site.

According to Memory Chanda, who was among the women who caught the head teacher, Mr Mapulande was gripped with fear and had difficulties to explain what he was doing at the grave of his former pupil.

Ms Chanda said in his defence, Mr Mapulande whom she knew very well, said he was actually waiting for his girlfriend who took long to meet him and he decided to sit on the grave.

“After we started shouting for help, Mr Mapulande promised to give us a K100 each but we refused. We started shouting and a lot of people came,” she said.

Zambia Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga who confirmed the incident said Mr Mapulande was held in police custody for his own safety because members of the public wanted to pounce on him.

The Local Government Service Commission has disclosed that about 10 people are fired every month on average by the commission from councils across the country for fraudulent activities.
Addressing the media in Lusaka today, Commission Chairperson Ackson Sejani says unmitigated pilferage of revenue by some officers in local authorities is depriving the councils the much-needed revenue resulting into non-payment of workers.
Mr Sejani says the commission is therefore working towards addressing various factors contributing to non-payment of council workers including theft by some revenue collectors within local authorities.
Meanwhile, Mr. Sejani says the Commission has come up with new methods of assessing the work performance of its principal officers and staff which has resulted into amendments to the annual appraisal assessment form to include the utilization of the Constituency Development Fund-CDF- component.
Mr. Sejani says the move is meant to address the inertia in the implementation of CDF projects and that the appraisal period has also been reduced from one year to 6 months
