Human bones found in church!
Jesus Army Church in Lusaka’s Mtendere Township may not be the Valley of Dry Bones as it is written in the Bible Ezekiel 37:1, but the real human remains found in its premises on May 7, 2024 have left the church’s overseer, Flemings Mtonga, shocked about their discovery.

Bishop Mtonga said the church has no clue on how the skeleton found itself within their premises.

He said the bones, which have since been picked from the church premises by police to undergo forensic examinations at the University Teaching Hospitals (UTH), are believed to have been there for a long time.

Wondering how this happened in the precincts of the church, the bishop recalled a similar incident four years ago when a dead body was dumped by the gate of the church by a truck, which later sped off.

Bishop Mtonga said the church suspected that the person was hit by a speeding vehicle before his body was dumped at its gate.

He said the matter was reported to police and officers from Woodlands Police Station picked up the body.

The latest incident has brought out a feeling of déjà vu.

Uproar in Zambia Army over promotions

The promotion of Lieutenant Colonel Innocent Mutinta by President Hakainde Hichilema has sparked an uproar in the Zambia Army and other defence wings with many describing the elevation as not on merit but tribally inclined.

Some Zambia Army personnel took to social media condemning the sole promotion of col Mutinta, who was in 2016 retired in national interest and was reinstated together with other officers only a year ago.

President Hichilema, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the Defence Forces early this week promoted Lieutenant Colonel Innocent Mutinta to the rank of Colonel but his peers have complained and are asking the criteria that was used to arrive at his name when he had been away from the military for more than six years.

A military officer was given a 3-day leave to go and enjoy with his newly wedded wife.

He arrived home & realized dat his wife was in her menstrual period. He had to send an sos message to headquarters requesting for an extension of his leave days.

He prepared his message in the usual military coded language.

He wrote: Soldier: Omega One, dis is Omega Twelve. Danger from de field. Red in front. Leave extension requested. Do u read me? Red in front... passage not clear, extend leave!

Headquarters replied: This is Omega One. We read u loud & clear. The danger is minimal. Attack from de back n resume immediately🤗. Leave extension denied🤚. I repeat.... attack with minimal force from de back n resume immediately😎... way is clear frm behind👌 Extension denied!

SAD: UNZA student dies in attempt to charge phone

A University of Zambia student, Margret Chibesakunda, 22, has died after being fatally electrocuted while attempting to charge her phone in her dorm room.

According to Zambia Police spokesperson Rae Hamoonga, the incident occurred last night causing an uproar from students who took to the streets, demonstrating.

The university clinic nurse reported the incident to Chelston Police Station around 23:00 hours.

"The incident occurred around 21:30 hours at October Block 2, Room 23, of the University of Zambia Great East Road Campus. Ms. Chibesakunda sustained severe burns on her neck, right elbow, and leg."

"Despite efforts to save her, she succumbed to her injuries." Hamoonga said.

Following the unfortunate event, there was a spontaneous demonstration by University of Zambia students, obstructing the Great East Road with stones and drums.

"In response, police officers swiftly intervened to restore public order. The students were urged to mourn within the campus premises rather than disrupting public order. Fortunately, the students complied with the advice and returned to the University grounds," added Hamoonga.

Chibesakunda's body was transferred to the University Teaching Hospital Mortuary.

The cause of the electrocution is under investigation.
