Zambia Youth Alliance Advocates for Youth Inclusion

LUSAKA – Zambia Youth Alliance, a leading advocate for youth inclusion, stands united in promoting and advancing the meaningful participation and engagement of young people in decision-making processes. As we recognize the immense potential and valuable contributions of young people in shaping our present and future, we call upon stakeholders across sectors to ensure their voices are heard and their perspectives are considered.

Youth inclusion is not a mere token gesture; it is a fundamental right that must be respected and upheld. Inclusion entails providing young people with equal opportunities, access to resources, and platforms to actively participate in discussions and decisions that impact their lives. It is crucial to move beyond symbolic gestures and truly integrate youth perspectives into policy-making, planning, and implementation processes.

We believe that involving young people in decision-making leads to more effective and sustainable outcomes across various sectors, including education, healthcare, employment, social justice, and environmental sustainability. Their unique insights, creativity, and lived experiences equip them to offer fresh perspectives and innovative solutions that can propel our society forward.

Moreover, youth inclusion fosters a sense of ownership, empowerment, and social cohesion among young people. It instills in them a belief that their opinions matter and can bring about meaningful change. By actively involving young people, we nurture their leadership capabilities and inspire them to become proactive contributors to their communities.

To achieve genuine youth inclusion, we must create safe spaces that encourage open dialogue, respect diversity, and value the input of young people. This requires establishing structures and mechanisms that enable young people to participate meaningfully and have their voices amplified.

Zambian Association for General Workers

Members of the press
Distinguished invited guest
Ladies and Gentlemen

Good Morning!
The Zambian Association for General Workers joins the rest of the country to celebrate the International Labour Day, also known as International Workers' Day, as it is observed on May 1 all around the world. The day is dedicated to employees and labourers who contribute to all types of businesses and sectors. The goal of the day is to educate workers about their rights while also honouring their contributions to society. Labour Day is observed as a national holiday in a number of nations, and it is a day when numerous organizations support unique initiatives aimed at improving labour conditions.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN

Labor Day is a day to recognize and celebrate the contributions of all workers, regardless of their profession or industry. It is a day to reflect on the importance of work, and to pay tribute to the men and women who make our society and economy function, every day.

In today's society, it is all too common for individuals to overlook the crucial role that each and every worker plays in the very fabric of our communities. It is easy to take for granted the seemingly small, yet critical contributions of workers in every sector of our society. However, the reality is that every worker, regardless of their profession, is crucial to the successful operation of our society.

Farmers, for example, are the backbone of our food production system. They work tirelessly to grow the crops that feed our families and sustain our communities. These hardworking individuals often labour in gruelling conditions, facing weather extremes and working long hours to provide us with the sustenance we need to survive. Without them, we would not have the fresh, wholesome food that we so often take for granted.

Similarly, teachers are integral to the development and education of our children. They shape the minds of the next generation, imparting wisdom and knowledge that will stay with our children for a lifetime. They provide a safe and nurturing environment for our children to learn, grow and develop, both academically and emotionally. Teachers play a crucial role in ensuring the future of our society, by equipping our children with the skills and knowledge they will need to succeed in life.

But this is not just about acknowledging the importance of work. It is also about recognizing the human dignity of all workers, and ensuring that they are treated with the respect and dignity they deserve. Whether they work in an office or a factory, in the public sector or the private sector, every worker has the right to safe working conditions, fair pay, and equal opportunities.

Unfortunately, not all workers in our society enjoy these basic rights and protections. From exploitation and abuse, to long hours and low pay, to inadequate health and safety regulations, there are still many challenges that workers face, even in our modern world. And it is up to us, as responsible citizens and members of society, to fight for the rights and dignity of all workers, and to ensure that they are treated fairly and justly.

So, on this Labor Day, let us remember the importance of work, and the contributions of all workers to our society. Let us celebrate the human dignity of every worker, and recognize their essential role in our world. And let us redouble our efforts to fight for the rights and protections of all workers, and to create a more just and equal society for all.

The theme for this year’s commemoration is “Accelerating Job Creation for economic growth” this theme has come at a right time as the government of the Republic of Zambia has made series of pronouncements in ensuring the plights of workers are protected.

Thank You!!!!!!!

To***co exposure a threat to everyone, not just smokers - Mwale

ZAMBIAN YOUTH ALLIANCE says to***co exposure is a threat to lung health for everyone, not just smokers.

The organisation's Executive director Samson Mwale
warns that to***co is deadly in any form and that it threatens the lung health of everyone exposed to it.

“To***co kills one person every four seconds,” Mwale says, stressing that to***co smoke is the single biggest public health threat the world is currently facing.

“It is estimated that there are 1.1 billion smokers worldwide, and around eight million people are killed by to***co smoke each year globally.”

Mwale adds that among such deaths, more than seven million are the result of direct to***co use while around 1.2 million are the result of non-smokers being exposed to second-hand smoke.

He explains that the millions of deaths caused by to***co-related respiratory diseases are distressing.

“But even more distressing is the tremendous suffering caused by these illnesses, the debilitating effects of which affect the quality of life of people of all ages, in all regions of the globe,” he says.

He highlights that with just a single breath, the hundreds of toxins in to***co smoke begin damaging one’s lungs.

He says when to***co smoke is inhaled, the structures that sweep mucus and dirt out of the airways are paralysed, allowing the poisonous substances in to***co smoke to make their way into the lungs more easily.

“The air pollution emitted by ci******es is 10 times greater than diesel car exhaust reported in To***co Control. Environmental to***co smoke produces fine particulate matter, which is the most dangerous element of air pollution for health.”

Mwale further notes that smokers’ children suffer reduced lung function, which continues to affect them in the form of chronic respiratory disorders in adulthood.

He says adolescents who smoke are more likely to suffer chronic respiratory disorders and risk permanently damaging their lungs.
He emphasises that it is for that reason that to***co control must be the government’s priority.

“In view of the above, Zambia Youth Alliance joins the rest of the Civil Society Consortium on To***co Control in Zambia to urge the government to pass the to***co control bill because once the bill is passed, the harmful impact of to***co and cigarette smoke on public health will be reduced,” Mwale says.

“Clean air is a basic requirement of life. Pass the to***co control bill and Save Lives."

SEXUALLY STUCK CHEATING COUPLE TAKEN TO A TRADITIONAL HEALER AS HUSBAND TO THE WIFE WHO HAS THE MAGICAL KEY 🗝️ TO UNLOCK THEM HAS SWITCHED OFF HIS PHONE & HIS WHEREABOUTS ARE NOT KNOWN

Married cheating couple that was recently found s*xually stuck, has been taken to a traditional healer after four prophets failed to separate the two despite them applying anointing oil on their private parts and drinking three cases of anointing water 💦.

After failing to raise a K40, 000 which the husband to the wife caught was demanding, affected family members started looking for the husband who later switched off his mobile phone and is suspected to have gone back to his home country Tanzania.

Owner of the wife yesterday sent a message to his wife stating that he warned her against cheating and he could no longer stand the shame of living with a wife who allows s*xual bluetooth connections with everyone.

The stuck couple which has attracted a lot of mixed reactions from society, was yesterday afternoon taken to a traditional healer Dr Jemba who is up to now still failing to separate the two despite demanding for K20, 000 which he got and used K6, 000 to get other unlocking charms from his friends which have not worked.

Facts of the matter are that husband to the wife caught with another man was demanding for K40,000 cash to unlock them after they got stuck while having s*x.

Family to the man caught with someone's wife only managed to raise K18,500.

Separating the two has failed by all means and only the owner of the wife has the magical key to unlock the two secret but now public lovers.

Sources familiar with the charm used say to separate the two, sperms from a half blind (has one eye 👁️) male black and brown dog, fresh faeces of a coloured female virgin, a dirty pant of the mother to the man caught and other charms from the bush are needed.

6 YEAR OLD THAT WENT MISSING AFTER BEING SENT OUT OF CLASS FOUND DEAD WITH BODY PARTS MISSING

A SIX year old girl of Kawambwa who went missing after she was sent away from class by her teacher has been found dead with her private parts and other body parts missing.

Precious Kaunda's body was found floating on Ng'ona river by three boys who went fishing.

Luapula province commanding officer Gloria Mulele said Jealous Musonda, Lupambo Katepa and Pathias Mubanga found Kaunda's body floating in a decomposed state.

"Upon receiving the report the police rushed to the scene of the crime and found the body floating by the river side and managed to retrieve the body. The police conducted a search within the scene of the crime and found a school bag, pant, shoes, a pencil, a pair of socks and also struggling marks as well as fallen elephant grass," Ms Mulele said.

She said a physical inspection on Precious's body was conducted where the police found that her lower and upper lips were removed, part of the nose and the private part were removed.

"The body was taken to Kawambwa district hospital mortuary where a post mortem was conducted to ascertain the cause of death. According to the doctor's findings, the cause of death was due to excessive bleeding and shock," She said.
