City Killers crowned 2024/25 Nedbank regional champions.

City Killers from Mbekweni in Paarl have been crowned 2024/25 champions, this comes after they played against City Eleven Stars who were the host In Ceres.
City Eleven Stars had half lead of 2-0 But City Killers we willing to fight they back and scored an early second half goal to make it 2-1 But City Eleven Stars extended their lead 3-1. The never die spirit of City Killers made the find the back of the net twice in last 10 minutes to make it 3-3.

The game had to go on Penalties. And The won 5-4 on penalties(Ngenzwane manene)

Chidimma Adetshina wins Miss Universe Nigeria title.

Chidimma Adetshina was crowned Miss Universe Nigeria on Saturday(31 August 2024), capping a difficult few weeks for the beauty queen.

"This journey has been a tough journey for me and I am so proud of myself and I'm really grateful for the love and the support," Adetshina told AFP minutes after being crowned in Nigeria's commercial capital of Lagos.

"This is something that I've always wanted, and I'm really glad that I have a second shot as well at achieving it," said Adetshina.

Despite not being in the country in 20 years, organisers of the Nigerian contest invited her to join their final, saying it was a chance for her to "represent her father's native land on an international stage".

"We all need to stop with the xenophobia... with the tribalism," first runner-up Paula Ezendu told AFP.

"We're all one family. We're all human beings," she added.

The nationality controversy notwithstanding, Adetshina insisted she loved South Arica and was grateful for the support from the country.

She will represent Nigeria at the international Miss Universe competition in November.

"I know we are going to win," she told reporters

Cape Winelands FM team up with other organizations and wrapp up women's month in style.

Cape Winelands FM together with other organizations such as Isidingo, Build it, Hollywood bets and local football and netball clubs teamed up and wrapped up women's month in style today 31 August 2024 at Mbekweni football fields and Mbekweni courts.

The organizations had one common goal which is to promote unity through sport in the Cape Winelands District even though there were some women soccer teams from Cape Town such as Magic from Rondebosch in the Southern suburbs which beat Mbekweni Sundowns women's team 8-0.

Our presenters Quevanian Brown and Nicky Savage will keep give you latest information through our platforms as they conducted interviews with some managers and coaches even sport stars who attended those mouth watering games.

Hawks seize rifles, pistols at 'fi****ms training facility' on farm in Limpompo.

Hawks confiscated fi****ms and ammunition at a farm believed to be a training camp.

Licensed rifles, pistols and ammunition have been seized by the Hawks at an alleged firearm training facility at a farm in Modimolle, Limpopo.

Officers in collaboration with public order policing and a tactical response team pounced on the farm after receiving a tip-off about a suspicious training camp.

"A sting operation was conducted. During the operation, the team seized licensed rifles, pistols, and ammunition believed to be used during training.

"The purpose of the training is not yet clear, but military-related training cannot be ruled out," said provincial Hawks spokesperson W/O Lethunya Mmuroa.

He said police are investigating how the fi****ms and ammunition ended up on the farm. No arrests made yet.

Recently, Police arrested 95 Libyans at what appeared to be a military training camp in White River, Mpumalanga.

Stellenbosch FC secures its spot in MTN TOP 8 after defeating TS Galaxy 3-1.

As the Stellenbosch FC and TS Galaxy played quarter finals on Sunday 04 August towards the end of the outstanding season, the determined team from Cape Winelands kept its faith and defeated TS Galaxy with 3-1 securing its spot in the MTN TOP 8 semi-finals.

Cape Winelands FM continues hosting best events.

After hosting 2024 Hollywood bets Champions Mbekweni Cosmos from Paarl and delivering food parcels to the SOS soup kitchen in Klapmuts on the 27 July 2024 as part wrapping up Madiba month in style by giving back to those less fortunate in our communities, the radio station's management says Cape Winelanders should brace themselves for more mouth watering events.

The station's Program's Manager Quevanian Brown who's 2023 Miss Klapmuts is planning a one of a kind show called "Klapmuts On Heels" which will take place on 24th August 2024, as part of commemorating our women as August is declared as women's month, men are also encouraged to wear high heels on that day as there'll be lucky draw and best prizes to win.(details to follow).

On 24 September 2024, Cape Winelands FM together with local organizations will host the heritage event where traditional artists and soccer players will be showcasing their skills(more details to follow).

Then on 02 November 2024, as part of creating awareness about the mental health month, Cape Winelands FM's business manager(formerly known as station manager) Nicky, is busy preparing a one of a kind show Mr and Ms gay. The proceeds of this event will be donated to a mental health clininc/organization(more details to follow)

Cape Winelands FM and Mbekweni Cosmos give back to Klapmuts community.

As part of Madiba month commemoration, Cape Winelands FM together with the 2024 Hollywood bets Champions Mbekweni Cosmos from Paarl, have given back to SOS soup kitchen in Klapmuts today 27 July 2024.

After sharing their challenges as Upcoming soccer players from the Cape Winelands district at the Cape Winelands FM studios in Klapmuts today, these disciplined stars from Mbekweni Paarl said giving back to any community in our district is one of their visions and they joined our presenters Fiona, Carmen, Quvenian, Nicky, Annie-Marry and Armstar as they embarked on a great journey of wrapping up the Madiba month in style.

Cape Winelands FM's Secretory Ms Annie-Marry Mintoor and Mbekweni Cosmos Chairperson Mr Tsietsi Telite, agreed that these two organizations will always work together as long as they play the ball of developing the communities of the Cape Winelands District and the surroundings.

Mr Tsietsi Telite also urged all organizations/companies to sponsor their team, mentioning that one of the team's promising soccer players recently went to play in Dallas Texas in America, but couldn't further go play in Spain due to financial difficulties.

Ms Annie-Marry Mintoor said she would like to thank Mrs Francisca Solomons (Sales Manager) at Klapmuts shoprite for participating by donating some items to SOS soup Kitchen in Klapmuts, adding that it's always good to see big companies giving back to the community.

🌧️⚠️ Heavy Downpours Expected, Wemmershoek Dam Being Carefully Monitored

Due to the predicted heavy rains this weekend, Stellenbosch Municipality has issued an alert for the area downstream of the Wemmershoek Dam. The highest rainfall is expected between 1 PM and 3 PM on Saturday, 27 July 2024.

Given these conditions, it is likely that the sluice gate at the dam will open to Stage 4 (105 m³/s). Depending on the rainfall intensities, the sluices may be opened to higher stages, potentially reaching Stage 5 (133 m³/s) by late afternoon.

The municipality urges all community members to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions. Please stay informed by monitoring warnings and updates from your local municipalities.

Mbekweni Cosmos from Paarl crowned Western Cape Champions after beating Vasco Da gama.

Mbenkweni Cosmos from Paarl in the Cape Winelands has been crowned Western Champions after beating Vasco Da gama from Cape Town Region with 1-0.

These great soccer players from Mbekweni, Paarl that are coached by Asanda Dingiswayo were in group B together with Bhazuka FC from Overberg and Ubuntu Spartans from Central.

Cosmos played their first game on Saturday and drew 0-0 , their second game was on Sunday 21 July 2024 at 09h00 in which they won 1-0, then they had to proceed and play against group B former Champions Vasco da Gama and won 1-0 all these games were played over the past weekend at Kwanokuthula in Plettenberg.

Mbekweni Cosmos Captain Pumutso Tsotso Mohelei says this can only be possible when a team has great dynamics.

Cape Winelands FM to SWITCH-OFF

After considering some aspects such reaching bigger broadcasting areas in the entire Cape Winelands District & surroundings, upgrading its studio equipment and most importantly getting more involved in the communities this young community radio station serves, the organization's boardmembers together with the management and presenters held a meeting yesterday 20 July 2024 in which it was agreed that the radio station should temporarily switch off.

Annie-Marry Mintoor who's a secretory of the organization says "I would like to thank all our listeners for not just listening but also being involved in Cape Winelands FM, your input is highly appreciated. Just know that while we'll be OFF, our ground soldiers will fully engage and support other organizations in our communities, she added.

Asked when is the radio station officially switching OFF and going back ON, she said it will go off on Sunday 21 July 2024, but there's no official date when it goes back ON as there's a lot to be done such as upgrades, removal of broadcasting equipment such as antennas and transmitters and system upgrades.

Furthermore, she added that she's super excited that members of the radio station will engage and give support to other organizations during these upgrades.

Annie-Marry urges members of the public to look at the radio station's page which hss almost 12000 fans for any update.
