More then 200 residents of the St Albans community have blockaded Old Cape Road, outside the prison, demanding services from the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality.
The angry residents threw rocks and bottles at a truck as it quickly rammed through the rubble that had been set alight. Police arrived on the scene at about 7pm and teargas was used to disperse the crowd.
