Food Drive for abandoned pets at the youth centre

KKS Dance Group based at the Nelson Mandela Community Youth Centre in Chatsworth are going on a drive to help animal shelters.

They doing a food drive this Saturday for abandoned pets at the Rescued Paw Friends shelter and a local pet shelter. These shelters are in dire need of pet food and other necessities to keep rescued animals alive.

On Saturday, 2 November from 11am to 3pm, the KKS Dance Group will be at the youth centre to receive these donations. Sivendrie Ramasamy from the dance group said, "Our group is passionate about getting involved in different causes and we have chosen to assist animal shelters this time. We hosting an exciting event at the youth centre on Saturday where we will be collecting stuff to pass over to at least two shelters. There will be music, dance, pet food and accessory stalls, and talks by various pet lovers and professionals. We calling on you to donate canned dog food, a bag of dog food, dog biscuits and treats, rice, maize meal, boneless chicken, chicken livers, carrots, butternut, pet mince, blankets and towels. There will also be stalls at the youth centre to buy pet food that can be donated."

Help find missing person

Chatsworth police are appealing to the community for assistance in locating a missing person.

Kiven Potiah, a 40-year-old man, was last seen by his family on Friday, 27 September, when he left his home in Montford. Captain Cheryl Pillay, communications officer at Chatsworth SAPS, said: "He is dark in complexion and of slender build. The reason for his disappearance is unknown."

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to contact Detective Sergeant Duma at Chatsworth SAPS on 031 451 4223. Alternatively, contact Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
