How Impact was born.
Once upon a time (in October 2017), our founder, was walking the streets of Addis Ababa with a friend, and he asked her, “Where do you see yourself in 5 years?”. 21 year old Tamryn Iyer hesitated and thought for a moment. “Well, I see myself running a company, bringing value to non-profits and other organisations (who are doing great things for the world) and using social media as a tool for social change.”
Upon return, back to South Africa, Impact17 was born. “Impact” , because that’s just the ripples this business will create and “17” in numerology represented “compassion, spiritual consciousness, and wisdom, a desire for peace and love for all of humanity.” Impact17 launched on Facebook and Instagram on 17 November 2017. The business started with helping individuals make an impact by engaging in acts of charity. We then went on to assisting entrepreneurs set up their social media and taught them how to promote their brands. We also taught young people how they can learn social media and then help non-profits and small businesses, in exchange for work experience/volunteer hours. We gained momentum until June 2018, when we had to take a small recess (a year long one too).
Impact17 came back in full force, in June 2019, fired up with passion, power and purpose. We dived back into the game by wanting to help entrepreneurs/organizations amplify their voice on social media by helping them create content that is engaging, educating and inspiring. We help you understand WHY you’re doing WHAT you’re doing and translate those into social posts. And overall, we’re facilitating more positive news about growth and small businesses etc on your social feeds. We’re now also looking closely at matching talent with opportunities. We take people (diverse in age, race etc) , understand them and provide them with platforms (within Impact17 or others) and see how they can grow that business/organization and themselves too.
Our heartiest service offerings is advice on how families, friend groups, businesses or any other social circle can come together and uplift humans, animals or the planet. Each group helps differently and we work with understanding the groups and pairing them with initiatives that resonate with them.
