The ongoing mass movement started by , leader of the Indian National Congress, is orchestrating the movement by mobilising the party cadre and general public into walking by foot from Kanyakumari, the southern tip of the peninsula, to the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, spanning 3.570 kilometres over 150 days, is scheduled to conclude in Srinagar on 30th Jan 2023.

Principal Secretary, Planning/Forest Ecology and Environment Department, Dr. Pawan Kotwal discussed the issue of acquisition of land for the proposal of five GW Solar Power Projects at Pang and Kharnak, Leh.
In the meeting, the Principal Secretary said that the five GW Solar Power Projects at Pang and Kharnak were prestigious ones for UT Ladakh and the administration would leave no stone unturned to see it commence as soon as possible. He said that Ladakh has a huge potential to generate solar energy, not only to meet its demand but the needs of the country as well.

He said that only once we completely shift from fossil fuel energy to renewable alternatives can Ladakh be truly carbon neutral. He added that the Rs. 50,000 crore Solar Power Project is of national importance not just because it will offset our carbon footprint but will also meet India’s international obligations.

Secretary, Power Development Department/Animal, and Sheep Husbandry, Ravinder Dangi, apprised the Principal Secretary about the progress on the project in Pang. He informed that the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), has completed the field survey and discussions have also taken place with all the stakeholders. He further added that in the initial assessment it was observed that the maximum population living in the area was eager for the Solar Power Project to take place. Discussions were also held with SECI to employ locals in the skilled and semi-skilled sectors, apart from regular maintenance jobs at the Solar Power Project, he added.

Earlier, Director, Power Systems SECI, S.K. Mishra apprised the Principal Secretary about the details of the Solar Power Project. Principal Secretary then directed Director SECI to station a contact person in Ladakh.

The meeting was attended by Secretary PDD, Ravinder Kumar; Chief Conservator of Forest/Chief Wildlife Warden Ladakh, Preet Pal Singh; Deputy Commissioner/ CEO, LAHDC, Leh, Shrikant Suse; ACR, Leh, Shabbir Hussain and Director, Power Systems SECI, S.K. Mishra.

LEH : Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse also the Chairman of District Level Review Committee (DLRC) chaired the meeting of the DLRC and District Consultative Committee (DCC) of Leh district for the quarter end of September 2021 at DC Conference Hall on December 21.
DC Leh reviewed the performances of various banks under the Annual Credit Plan 2021-22 of Leh district, Government Sponsored Schemes, Kisan Credit Cards, Financial Literacy Initiatives/ Camps, Social Security Schemes, PM SVANidhi, National Rural Livelihood Mission (MRLM), and National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM).

He impressed upon the concerned officers/officials to undertake necessary actions to improve their achievement ratios and to address the concerns of the applicants. He directed to conduct awareness camps, workshops, a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs), and banners for availing benefits under different schemes.

District Level RSETI Advisory Committee (DLRAC) also reviewed the performance of Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), Leh. It was informed that 108 batches of skill development training were conducted, since the inception of RSETI in Leh, in which a total of 2313 candidates were trained. Also, informed that the percentage of female trainees in RSETI is higher than the male.

Shrikant Suse enquired about the retention rate of the trainees and directed the concerned officers to follow it up with the Rural Development Department and submit a detailed report. He also asked about the status of the new trades to be introduced in the RSETI programme, as instructed by him in the previous DLRAC meeting.

J&K, Ladakh UTs to have joint cadre of JKAS, JKP, JKFS

Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh will have ‘Joint Services or Cadres' of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS), Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS) and Jammu and Kashmir Forest Service (JKFS).

They will have joint cadre till the final decision regarding separate feeder cadre for these services in the UT of Ladakh is taken by the ‘competent authority.’

The direction in this connection was issued by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in exercise of powers conferred under proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of India read with section 89 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019 and in partial modification of any notification issued on the subject.

“The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir is pleased to direct that there shall be 'Joint Services/Cadres' of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS), Jammu and Kashmir Police (Gazetted) Service (JKPS) and Jammu and Kashmir Forest (Gazetted) Service for Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh, pending final decision regarding separate feeder cadres for the respective Services in the Union Territory of Ladakh by the competent authority,” read a notification issued by GAD Commissioner Manoj Kumar Dwivedi.

“Consequent thereto, promotion of the members of these services shall be effected in terms of the combined seniority or strength of the service against the total posts of these cadres allocated to Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh,” Dwivedi ordered.

The notification has been issued “in consultation with the administration of Union Territory of Ladakh,” he added.

The Information and Broadcasting ministry on Tuesday ordered the blocking of 20 channels on YouTube and two websites over spreading "anti-India" propaganda and fake news on the internet.
"In a closely coordinated effort between intelligence agencies and the Information and Broadcasting ministry, the ministry has ordered the blocking of 20 channels on YouTube and two websites spreading anti-India propaganda and fake news on the internet," the ministry said in a statement.

The channels and websites belong to a coordinated disinformation network operating from Pakistan and spreading fake news about various sensitive subjects related to India. The channels were used to post divisive content in a coordinated manner on topics like Kashmir, Indian Army, minority communities in India, Ram Mandir, General Bipin Rawat etc, it added.

Ladakh reports 28 new COVID cases in last 24 hours

Leh, December 20 : Ladakh reported 28 new COVID cases and 21 recoveries in the last 24 hours, said the Union Territory Administration on Sunday.
According to the Union Territory Administration, the new infections pushed the active number of cases to 188. Out of the total active cases, 158 cases are there in Leh while 30 cases are in Kargil.
Meanwhile, India logged 7,081 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the active caseload of the country to 83,913, the lowest in nearly 1.5 years, informed the Union Health Ministry on Sunday.
As per the Ministry, India's active caseload is the lowest in 570 days.
"Active cases constitute 0.24 per cent of the country's total positive cases, which is lowest since March 2020," stated the Ministry.
With the recovery of 7,469 patients in the last 24 hours, the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic has increased to 3,41,78,940. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.38 per cent, the highest since March 2020.
As many as 264 deaths have also been reported in the last 24 hours. As per the ministry, the cumulative death tally due to COVID-19 is 4,77,422.
