The ongoing mass movement started by , leader of the Indian National Congress, is orchestrating the movement by mobilising the party cadre and general public into walking by foot from Kanyakumari, the southern tip of the peninsula, to the union territory of Jammu and Kashmir, spanning 3.570 kilometres over 150 days, is scheduled to conclude in Srinagar on 30th Jan 2023.
Today, after 133 days, it reached Lakhanpur region of the Jammu and Kashmir UT where it was welcomed by huge number of general public and prominent political figures like former CM and National Conference patron Dr Farooo Abdullah along with other senior party members from Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh.

Principal Secretary, Planning/Forest Ecology and Environment Department, Dr. Pawan Kotwal discussed the issue of acquisition of land for the proposal of five GW Solar Power Projects at Pang and Kharnak, Leh.
In the meeting, the Principal Secretary said that the five GW Solar Power Projects at Pang and Kharnak were prestigious ones for UT Ladakh and the administration would leave no stone unturned to see it commence as soon as possible. He said that Ladakh has a huge potential to generate solar energy, not only to meet its demand but the needs of the country as well.

He said that only once we completely shift from fossil fuel energy to renewable alternatives can Ladakh be truly carbon neutral. He added that the Rs. 50,000 crore Solar Power Project is of national importance not just because it will offset our carbon footprint but will also meet India’s international obligations.

Secretary, Power Development Department/Animal, and Sheep Husbandry, Ravinder Dangi, apprised the Principal Secretary about the progress on the project in Pang. He informed that the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI), has completed the field survey and discussions have also taken place with all the stakeholders. He further added that in the initial assessment it was observed that the maximum population living in the area was eager for the Solar Power Project to take place. Discussions were also held with SECI to employ locals in the skilled and semi-skilled sectors, apart from regular maintenance jobs at the Solar Power Project, he added.

Earlier, Director, Power Systems SECI, S.K. Mishra apprised the Principal Secretary about the details of the Solar Power Project. Principal Secretary then directed Director SECI to station a contact person in Ladakh.

The meeting was attended by Secretary PDD, Ravinder Kumar; Chief Conservator of Forest/Chief Wildlife Warden Ladakh, Preet Pal Singh; Deputy Commissioner/ CEO, LAHDC, Leh, Shrikant Suse; ACR, Leh, Shabbir Hussain and Director, Power Systems SECI, S.K. Mishra.

LEH : Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse also the Chairman of District Level Review Committee (DLRC) chaired the meeting of the DLRC and District Consultative Committee (DCC) of Leh district for the quarter end of September 2021 at DC Conference Hall on December 21.
DC Leh reviewed the performances of various banks under the Annual Credit Plan 2021-22 of Leh district, Government Sponsored Schemes, Kisan Credit Cards, Financial Literacy Initiatives/ Camps, Social Security Schemes, PM SVANidhi, National Rural Livelihood Mission (MRLM), and National Urban Livelihood Mission (NULM).

He impressed upon the concerned officers/officials to undertake necessary actions to improve their achievement ratios and to address the concerns of the applicants. He directed to conduct awareness camps, workshops, a list of frequently asked questions (FAQs), and banners for availing benefits under different schemes.

District Level RSETI Advisory Committee (DLRAC) also reviewed the performance of Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI), Leh. It was informed that 108 batches of skill development training were conducted, since the inception of RSETI in Leh, in which a total of 2313 candidates were trained. Also, informed that the percentage of female trainees in RSETI is higher than the male.

Shrikant Suse enquired about the retention rate of the trainees and directed the concerned officers to follow it up with the Rural Development Department and submit a detailed report. He also asked about the status of the new trades to be introduced in the RSETI programme, as instructed by him in the previous DLRAC meeting.

Lead District Manager (LDM), Leh urged the banks to make concerted efforts to expand the digital payment ecosystem of the district.

J&K, Ladakh UTs to have joint cadre of JKAS, JKP, JKFS

Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the Union Territory of Ladakh will have ‘Joint Services or Cadres' of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS), Jammu and Kashmir Police Service (JKPS) and Jammu and Kashmir Forest Service (JKFS).

They will have joint cadre till the final decision regarding separate feeder cadre for these services in the UT of Ladakh is taken by the ‘competent authority.’

The direction in this connection was issued by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir in exercise of powers conferred under proviso to Article 309 of the Constitution of India read with section 89 of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019 and in partial modification of any notification issued on the subject.

“The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir is pleased to direct that there shall be 'Joint Services/Cadres' of Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS), Jammu and Kashmir Police (Gazetted) Service (JKPS) and Jammu and Kashmir Forest (Gazetted) Service for Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh, pending final decision regarding separate feeder cadres for the respective Services in the Union Territory of Ladakh by the competent authority,” read a notification issued by GAD Commissioner Manoj Kumar Dwivedi.

“Consequent thereto, promotion of the members of these services shall be effected in terms of the combined seniority or strength of the service against the total posts of these cadres allocated to Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir and Union Territory of Ladakh,” Dwivedi ordered.

The notification has been issued “in consultation with the administration of Union Territory of Ladakh,” he added.

KARGIL, 21 DECEMBER, 2021: A delegation of Shakar Chiktan sub division Tourism Development Committee under the Chairmanship of Executive Councillor Health and patron of Shakar Chiktan Tourism Development Committee Mohsin Ali today called on Executive Councillor for Tourism at Council Secretariat.

Chairperson Block Development Council (BDC) and Chairman Shakar Chiktan Tourism Development Committee Sayeeda Banoo, Assistant Director Tourism Aga Toha, Kacho Shamim General Secretary of Ladakh Olympic Association Kargil and Vice President of Ladakh Archery Association, Muhammad Ali Khan Secretary Kargil Ice and Snow Sports Club and Sarpanchs of Shakar Chiktan were also present in the meeting.

The delegation raised issues to inclusion of Ladakh Winter Carnival in Ladakh Tourism Calendar and to conduct more events at different venues of Shakar Chiktan like Mamani, Chakku, food festival, ice hockey tournament, cultural program, archery, losar festival, women's chair race, tug of war besides other sports activities.

After threadbare discussions, the EC Tourism assured the delegation and decided that the Ladakh Winter Carnival, Mamani traditional festival at Chiktan, ice hockey tournament at Chiktan, archery tournament at Chiktan, cultural and others program at Chiktan, losar festival at Bodh Kharboo, apricot blossom festival at Sanjak and Dargoo would be organized in Shakar Chiktan sub division.

The Information and Broadcasting ministry on Tuesday ordered the blocking of 20 channels on YouTube and two websites over spreading "anti-India" propaganda and fake news on the internet.
"In a closely coordinated effort between intelligence agencies and the Information and Broadcasting ministry, the ministry has ordered the blocking of 20 channels on YouTube and two websites spreading anti-India propaganda and fake news on the internet," the ministry said in a statement.

The channels and websites belong to a coordinated disinformation network operating from Pakistan and spreading fake news about various sensitive subjects related to India. The channels were used to post divisive content in a coordinated manner on topics like Kashmir, Indian Army, minority communities in India, Ram Mandir, General Bipin Rawat etc, it added.

The deceased was laid to rest at graveyard in his native place of Tambis.

Ulama's from Anjum-e-Jamiyatul Ulma Esna Asriya Kargil, Iman Khomeini Memorial Trust (IKMT) expressed their sorrow over the sad demise and paid rich tribute to the departed soul .

Religious Scholar from Anjum-e-Sahib Zaman and Markaz-e-Tabliga Imam Raza Sankoo, and political leaders among the promient figures who condoled demise of the cleric and extended sympathies to the breaved family members and relatives.

Ladakh reports 28 new COVID cases in last 24 hours

Leh, December 20 : Ladakh reported 28 new COVID cases and 21 recoveries in the last 24 hours, said the Union Territory Administration on Sunday.
According to the Union Territory Administration, the new infections pushed the active number of cases to 188. Out of the total active cases, 158 cases are there in Leh while 30 cases are in Kargil.
Meanwhile, India logged 7,081 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the active caseload of the country to 83,913, the lowest in nearly 1.5 years, informed the Union Health Ministry on Sunday.
As per the Ministry, India's active caseload is the lowest in 570 days.
"Active cases constitute 0.24 per cent of the country's total positive cases, which is lowest since March 2020," stated the Ministry.
With the recovery of 7,469 patients in the last 24 hours, the cumulative tally of recovered patients since the beginning of the pandemic has increased to 3,41,78,940. Consequently, India's recovery rate stands at 98.38 per cent, the highest since March 2020.
As many as 264 deaths have also been reported in the last 24 hours. As per the ministry, the cumulative death tally due to COVID-19 is 4,77,422.

Department of Youth Services and Sports informs the selection of Women Ice Hockey Players from Leh District, to be deputed from UT Ladakh, for National Ice Hockey Development Camp to be held in Kaza, Himachal Pradesh from 25th December 2021 to 25th January 2022.

Interested Women/Girls should come for trial with their equipment at Gupuks, Ice Hockey Rink on 22nd December 2021 at 11:00 AM.
20 women/girls would be shortlisted by a selection committee post trails who will represent UT Ladakh in the said camp.

Secretary, Youth Services and Sports, UT Ladakh, Ravinder Kumar ensured to provide support to the players to participate in the said camp which would be highly beneficial to the participants and especially to the Ice Hockey Players of Ladakh.

One-day training session on the e-office system for officers and officials of the DC office was organised by the Department of Information Technology (IT) UT Ladakh in collaboration with District Administration Kargil on December 20.
Sajjad Hussain Manager and Ishtiyaq Hussain Network Engineer of the IT Department gave a detailed presentation to the officials on different modes and usage of the e-office system. To ensure the roll-out of e-office, the department has to adopt e-office software of National Informatics Center (NIC) as the only mode of transition of official business file work in their respective department and also to adopt best practices for improving efficiency in the e-office system, disposal of official business.

Director, Rural Development Department, UT Ladakh, Tahir Hussain reviewed the overall development of sub-division activities at Nyoma sub-division on December 20.
Director, Tahir Hussain visited Mudh, Khurul, Tsaga, Dongti, Demjok and Koyul village along with Councillor, Nyoma Constituency, Ishey Spalzang and Block Development Council, Chairperson Urgain Chosdon on December 18 and 19.

He reviewed the overall development of sub-division activities at Nyoma sub-division to get first-hand information regarding the vigilance activities of the Rural Development Department, UT Ladakh. Sub-Divisional Magistrate Nyoma and BDO Nyoma also participated in the meeting.
