An active Western Disturbance is very likely to affect Western Himalayan region including Ladakh from 18th (Evening) - 21st Feb. with main activity during 19-20th Feb.

Under its influence:
Light to Moderate Snowfall is very likely to occur at most places of Kargil district & at many places of Leh district. Heavy snowfall very likely at scattered places, especially over higher & middle reaches of Ladakh. During the period, day temperature very likely to fall by 7-8℃ & night temperature likely to rise by 3-4℃.

Probable Impact:

May lead to temporary disruption of surface transportation over Zojila, Penzila, Changla and Khardongla during 18-21st & disruption of Air transportation during 19-20th.
Expect Colder Days & warmer Night during 17-21st.

Follow Traffic Advisory for your safety & convenience.

During Heavy snowfall, Stay away from Avalanche prone area.

UPSC Responds to Aspirants/Demands of UT Ladakh Admin, Opens Exam Center in Kargil

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has heeded the long-standing demand of UPSC enthusiasts in the Frontier District of Kargil. The Commission has announced the establishment of a dedicated examination center in Kargil, a move anticipated to transform the landscape of UPSC examinations in the region.

This decision comes as a result of persistent requests from UPSC aspirants in Kargil, who have long faced challenges related to accessibility and logistics. The new center is slated to be operational for the upcoming Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination scheduled for May 26, 2024.

The move is expected to bring a wave of relief and excitement among the aspiring candidates in the Frontier District. It signifies a step towards inclusivity, addressing the unique challenges faced by aspirants in remote areas and providing them with a fair and accessible platform to pursue their dreams of civil service.

*Today on 5th february 2024 (Monday)* the traffic movements/ Status of Zojila, Penzila and Shinkula axis remained as:-

1.Zojila Axis:-
*RED*

2.Penzila Axis:-
*GREEN*

3.Shinkula Axis:-
*CLOSED* due to snow accumulation.

*Traffic Plan/Advisory for 6th february 2024 (Tuesday)*

1) *Kargil- Srinagar (SSG) Road* :-
Tommorow no vehicles shall be allowed on Zojila Axis due to snow accumulation and slippery road.
All commuters drivers are advised not to travel on Zojila Axis until Subject to road clearance from the road clearance agency.

2) *Kargil-Zanskar (Penzila) Road*:-
Subject to fair weather and road clearance, All types of vehicles shall be allowed from both side in between 0700hrs to 1400hrs only from TCP Skygam and Panikhar with strictly use anti skid chain.thereafter no vehicles shall be allowed towards Penzila axis from both TCPs.

3) *Padum Darcha (Shinkula) Road*:-
There is extreme cold,freezing and snow accumulation across Shingkula axis. Subject to fair weather and road clearance, SHO Zanskar shall allow 4x4 Light Motor Vehicles with anti skid chain only in accordance to the road status within a specific period of day time only.

All the concerned Public and the travellers are advised to prepare their travel plan as per the advise of SHO Zanskar and Keylong (HP).

Councilor Taisuru, Abdul Hadi marked a historic moment in Tehsil Taisuru's sports development by inaugurating the state-of-the-art Ice Hockey Playground in Yuljuk. The ceremony, graced by Abdul Councilor Taisuru as Chief Guest, Mohd Hassan, Headmaster HS Yuljuk as Special Guests, Mr. Mohd Ishaq ZPEO Taisuru, and dedicated volunteers from Yuljuk.
This transformative initiative, led by Abdul Hadi's strong support and ZEPO Taisuru's dedication, has established Tehsil Taisuru as the proud host of one of the region's first state-level ice hockey grounds. The journey from concept to reality showcased the unity of the community, the councillor, and the Department of Youth Service and Sports, with Yuljuk's volunteers playing a pivotal role.
The newly opened Ice Hockey Playground is positioned to be a central hub for sports enthusiasts, fostering talent and promoting fitness. The facility is expected to significantly boost ice hockey's popularity in the region, with 140 registrations already received from enthusiasts across the block.
Councilor Abdul Hadi commended the collective effort that brought the vision to life, expressing confidence that the Ice Hockey Playground will not only enhance the sports landscape but also contribute to the overall well-being of the community. He pledged continued support for improvements, aiming to attract both state and national-level players.
