'EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE ALL AT ONCE'
I am behind on writing reviews for 2022 films I've seen, but this film is definitely worth writing a review for. As a film that wasn't even on my radar to begin with, this one absolutely caught me by surprise. As it is already one of the highest rated films of all time, EEAAO might just be the best film since the beginning of the pandemic.
While the film at large is a wildly fun and complex adventure, the root of it is a endearing story about how getting too caught up in the routine of life will often pull one away from what really matters. The Daniels and team have masterfully woven together a beautifully insane motion picture full of stunning visuals and sequences that transcends cinema in a way we haven't seen before.
Michelle Yeoh as the lead of the film lays out all her cards in giving one of the most emotional performances of her career. Although it is early, I am declaring right now she deserves to win the Oscar for best actress next year. Not only Michelle, but Ke Huy Quan matches her every move and is the heartbeat of the film. I'd love to see him win best supporting actor next year as well. In addition to the two stars, the entire cast does such a great job in playing the part in each of their awkwardly-written roles. The commitment from everyone is truly a testament to how a film like this can even be put together in the first place.
As it stands, this is by far my film of the year and it is going to be very hard to top it. I will not be suprised to see this film come next year sweep the Academy Awards. Go see it in theaters while you can!
