To get you ready for Halloween, here is a true spooky rock and roll tale:

As the original shock rocker you’d expect Alice Cooper to have had a brush with the dark side, and it came when he was working on material with Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry. “[We] were in this old house in upper New York,” he told us. “We were writing songs and all day things kept moving and disappearing. That night we were sitting for dinner and it sounded like people were moving furniture around in the basement. It wasn't like the movies where you go to investigate the noise – we got out of there. We found out later it was the place where the guy wrote "The Amityville Horror.”

Q: What are your favorite radio memories, either listening or working in the industry?

A: My greatest memories include first seeing the local radio station control room and meeting the people I had grown up listening to. The Conr board, the turntables, and the huge record library fascinated me. They mentored me & I started working there when I was just 14 years old.

Did you know, the word "broadcasting" is actually a mid 18th century agricultural term that means "wide scattering of seeds." The word didn't become a term related to radio until the 20th century, when the first radio broadcasts were created. Like with broadcast sowing, radio broadcasting also involves a large scattering of stuff: radio waves, songs, and entertainment.

Does this mean all radio broadcasters are technically farmers? We're not sure. But it's cool to know where the term comes from.
