I'm very happy to announce that Xuluprophet will be releasing our next set of new music exclusively on our website. There will be an official announcement about all of this on the regular channels. In order for us to continue having music be a viable part of our income we've decided that this is our best course of action. if 200 people buy a $5 single that would be more money than 200,000 streams on Spotify!!!
That math just isn't good considering that I myself can only hit between 20,000 and 30,000 people per month on Facebook and Instagram. The world is no longer interested in entire albums, or bodies of musical work that tell a whole story. so with the changing Market we're going to offer singles through our website. The good thing is that we'll be able to give you more than just a song since we'll be controlling the media.
I've always been against the idea of pay to play. that's hustling backwards. Part of my living is covered from the money I make from music, both playing and performing it and behind the scenes work I do for other artists. I've never been comfortable with the idea of paying money to be put on a playlist or for exposure- that's just MY personal preference. I'd love to be on those playlists, but from a personal and Artistic integrity it has to be earned on the Merit of the art that I make and not the amount of money that I spend to buy rankings. Personally I couldn't feel good about it. It's like an unearned trophy. I understand it's part of the game and the duplicity of the music business. but I'm not interested in the music business. I'm interested in making Magic for both myself and the cats I have played with and the listener.
