Last November I was contacted by one of the producers of this delightful new educational series, 'Smudge', from Alane Adams Studio, off of my animal demo (yes I actually have one) to be one of the voices of the Bird.

When I was younger I was called "rebellious" a time or two because I had a tendency to question authority or the status quo.
At that time, this was considered a bad thing, however the older I get I realize that many positive changes in our society have come from quiet, and not so quiet, acts of rebellion.
I'm grateful and honored that CanvasRebel Magazine, , would ask me to share a bit of my story.
Perhaps my willingness to be vulnerable with what I share in this article can be considered "rebellious" and yet in an age where everyone is shouting to be our authentic selves, I'm resisting the urge to hold back by being a 'CanvasRebel'.

When someone in your VO circle that you greatly respect, refers you for a job, the client listens to your demos and wants to hire you, but then you get the copy for said job and you feel it's "out of your wheelhouse", you dang well better go for it anyway.
A week ago this all unfolded and here I am with a brand spanking new spot for a great line of Power Tools!!! How's that for adding to my VO tool belt!
Takeaway: trust it when a client says you're the one for the job.☺️

My friend Mandy Brooks who runs CCC posted this fantastic picture to illustrate the process that a blackberry goes through in reaching its fullest and intended potential.
The accompanying scripture is a beautiful expression of the work God does in us so that we will also bear fruit.
Nowhere is there judgement in the process for each stage of maturation is perfect and necessary!
I pray we remember this as we enter our new week and pursue our passions and purpose💕✨🙏

2 Thessalonians 1:11: "With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may make you worthy of His calling, and that by His power he may bring to fruition your every desire for goodness and your every deed prompted by faith." This is my prayer for today and for anyone else whose desire is for God to bring their seeds of vision for serving Him with their gifts, at whatever stage they may be - into full fruition! The very thing that used to get me in trouble in school and cubicle jobs I didn’t belong in is what I do towards making a living.

So very sad to hear that the brilliant Tim Conway passed today. I had the great honor of being a “Vanna White” in a scene with him and Harvey Korman on an episode of ‘The Golden Palace’ back in the day.
He was very gracious and a nice human in person. We’ll miss the caliber of his talent.💕
I’m posting the referenced episode with said scene beginning at 6:25 as they are so very funny with their off-script improvisation.🤩

This evening I celebrated a successful VO session for a local regional tv commercial.
What makes this glass of cheer all the more sweet is that I wouldn’t have had a reason to celebrate had I not pushed through a difficult week to send out more marketing emails.
Being a vopreneur, having an independent creative business, freelancing or whatever incarnation our work is taking, requires us to do that which we don’t want to do so we can eventually do that which we want.
Although our efforts don’t always quickly bear such fruit I’m motivated to keep this forward moving momentum as I realize I like feasting more than the alternative. Plus, I really like good bubbly🥂
