Today on ModSnap Radio I'll be replaying my interview with Collin Hegna of Federale and playing the music of the and many others.

Portland-based collective Federale released their latest album "Reverb and Seduction " on Jealous Butcher Records and their single "No Strangers " pays homage to the legendary Lee Hazlewood. In the 20 years of their existence, Federale has carved out a unique niche within the indie music landscape, blending their signature spaghetti-Western instrumental
sound with increasing doses of moody vocal arrangements in the spirit of Lee Hazlewood and late-period Leonard Cohen. Through it all, songwriter and lead singer Collin Hegna – who also spent the last 20 years as a dues-paying member of The Brian Jonestown Massacre.

The band is currently on their Reverb & SeductionTour, which will lead them up and down America's West coast and beyond.

Today on the Queen of Wands on ModSnap Radio with DJ Nocturna - I'll be playing the music and interview - Progressive shoegaze project A Shoreline Dream, featuring the iconic Mark Gardener frontman of Ride. They just released their latest album called Whitelined on Latenight Weeknight Records.

Formed in 2005, A Shoreline Dream is now multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Ryan Policky and guitarist Erik Jeffries, who are based in Barnum, Colorado. This album sees

Guests today on the Queen of Wands Radio Show on ModSnap Radio is Washington DC's very own The Neuro Farm. I'll be playing the interview I did with the band, their music and new music from various groups and artists.

The project The Neuro Farm was formed when Brian Wolff met Rebekah Feng while in graduate school at Georgetown University working on their PhDs in neuroscience around 2011. While they were both also working on their own solo musical projects at the time, they both shared a common interest in the neurosciences and in the darker genre of music. In 2017 Colin in drums and percussion (DreamrD) joined the band and Tim Phillips in synths and programming joined them in 2021. Their latest singles are out now: Metamorphosis and Panic.

On October 31, 2022 they released one of the best covers I have ever heard of the Joy Division's New Dawn Fades sung by the amazing Brian Wolff. The Neuro Farm has released three full-length original albums so far: Vampyre (2021), The Descent (2019), and Ghosts (2014) . Their 4th album, Voices is set to be released soon. With a nod to Māori New Zealand novelist Keri Hulme’s Booker Prize-winning 'The Bone People'; Sydney, Australia’s Bonepeople was a mid-to-late 1990s project, inspired by world music, rhythm and grooves, triphop, electronica, politics, and peace. Spearheaded by dual songwriters and seasoned bassists Vanessa Lucas and Adrian Workman, the project at its height evolved into a 7-piece live band, before calling it quits in late 1998.

Their new 3-song EP, ‘Deception, Love, and Hope’, presents reimagined versions of key songs from that period; beautifully produced, reworked and remastered for 2024.

Adrian Workman hails from the iwi (Māori tribe) named Ngāti Kahungunu. He is known for his work as bassist, cofounder, and lead songwriter with New Zealand early 1980s post-punk outfit Vietnam.
Vanessa Lucas has roots in Sydney’s vibrant Greek community. During the 1990s she played violin with indie pop/rock band Tall Tales & True, and bass, violin and backing vocals with the prominent indigenous Australian group Mixed Relations. She has also recorded with First Nations artist Kev Carmody, and Māori artist Jen Cloher, among others.

Clone is led by LG Galleon, best known as frontman of Dead Leaf Echo, On this album, he is joined by NYC musicians Gregg Giufree (Pilot to Gunner), Max Idas and Dominick Turi. Live, he is joined by Paul Liziragga (Namesake) and Alex Cox (The Veldt).

UK industrial post-punk legends HISTORY OF GUNS releases 'Half Light' album, on Liquid Len Recording Company.

Formed in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire in 1996, History of Guns became frontrunners of the UK's Wasp Factory / FuturePunk scene of the early 2000s and their 2004 single 'Your Obedient Servant' was ultimately championed by The Quietus and Mick Mercer as one of the “thirty best goth singles of all time”.

On this album, founding members Del Alien (vocals) and Max Rael (keyboards, programming) are joined by guitarist Caden Clarkson (the newest member of History Of Guns) in exploring the human condition through various musical genres.

Produced by Max Rael, 'Half Light' was mixed by Max Rael and Caden Clarkson, and mastered by Pete Maher (U2, Pixies, Nick Cave, Depeche Mode, Nine Inch Nails).

Spectrum is a collection of songs created to highlight each color in a palette. Each song, each color is both a celebration of the color, but also the perspective in which each color is experienced through the lens of G.W. Childs IV. Growing up with synesthesia, Childs has always 'seen' sound. When a series of events altered his life in the form of the pandemic and other major events, Childs reverted to a simpler way of navigating and relating to the complex situations occurring in life by dealing with each moment as a color. Green began the journey as a way of seeing change through nature as a stepping stone for change in life. Blue continued the journey as a reminder of how nature steps in when things seem hopeless. Red became a story of passion when controlled and released. Indigo formed into the hopes for the future generations as they face situations unlike any our civilization has faced before. Each color is a mood and a portal into those vibrations and perspectives. Combining multiple genres with an entire landscape of synthesizers custom-programmed for this album, Spectrum is unique in sound and presentation.

With a connection to Hawaii, G.W. Childs and vocalist Jay Tye formed "Soil & Eclipse" in HONOLULU, HAWAII in 1996 celebrating the Aloha magic, spirit and love. In 1997, Jay and G.W. were contacted by COP International and signed the band to the label. Christian Petke

I had a conversation with Alex and Hugo from Sweden's Then Comes Silence and my interview will be up on my YouTube Channel.

Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Then Comes Silence was founded by Alex Svenson in 2012, originally inspired by frequent touring with A Place To Bury Strangers and an attraction to horror and the occult. Today he is joined by drummer Jonas Fransson and Hugo Zombie (Los Carniceros del Norte) on guitar.

They released their seventh album called Trickery on Metropolis Records. Recorded by Jörgen Wall (Jay-Jay Johanson, The Hellacopters) over three days at Stockholm's Kapsylen Studio and mixed by Tom van Heesch (Rammstein, Apocalyptica, Backyard Babies), this album was mastered by Svante Forsbäck / Chartmakers (Rammstein, Amaranthe, Ville Valo, The
Rasmus, Apocalyptica).

According to the band, this album celebrates friendship, unity and the feeling of belonging to a group, a tribe. Being a part of what most people would call the goth and post- punk community is, according to the band, a great privilege. Of course, there are
dark sides to everything, but after being on the road and meeting people from the music scene for so many years, the band have experienced a caring and welcoming community.

Then Comes Silence has toured and played live with The Fields of the Nephilim, The Chameleons, A Place To Bury Strangers, The Bellwether Syndicate and Vision Video, as well as performing at Wave Gotik Treffen, M'era Luna, Amphi Festival, Castle Party and W-Festival. .... Then Comes Silence

I spoke with Kristell Lowagie of Lovelorn Dolls . They are releasing their fourth album 'Deadtime Stories' on May 24 via Alfa Matrix / SPLEEN+, joining other great artists on this label, including Front 242, Ayria, Recoil, Leather Strip and Alien Vampires.

Ahead of that, the female-fronted synth-metal duo previewed the singles 'A Heart Cries', 'Dream World' and 'Beautiful Chaos' and just released the 'Deadtime Stories: the Book', showcasing the album's lyrics, along with accompanying
illustrations and photos by Kristell In Wonderland.

Hailing from Brussels, Belgium, Lovelorn Dolls is made up of Kristell Lowagie (lyrics, vocals, arrangements) and Bernard Daubresse (music,] programming, guitars, production). With an underbelly of gothic rock, their sound resembles a mix of Theatre of Tragedy, Lacuna Coil and The Birthday Massacre.

I had a conversation with Jsun Atoms, lead vocalist of Portland's alternative pop rock band called Sun Atoms The project released some singles: A tribute to iconic songwriter Leonard Cohen with "Tower of Song " and the band's original single "Ceiling Tiles" on Little Cloud Records. The songs are mixed by the iconic Jagz Kooner (Massive Attack, Primal Scream, Oasis and Garbage) The album will be released some time this year.

Sun Atoms is made up of bassist Peter G. Holmstrom (The Dandy Warhols, Pete International Airport), vocalist Jsun Atoms (The Upsidedown, Daydream Machine), multi-instrumentalist June Kang, Mars de Ponte (LoveBomb Go-Go), L.A. drummer Eric Rubalcava and Boise native Derek Spencer Longoria-
Gomez (Hi Hazel).

Their debut album "Let There Be Light" was also produced by Peter Holmstrom and mixed by the iconic Stephen Street, who mixed some songs of the Smiths, Cranberries and Blur.

Since 2014, Zanias has existed as the unrepentant creative venture of Alison Lewis, born in Australia, raised in Southeast Asia, and also known for her vocal work with Linea Aspera, Keluar and a record shelf’s worth of collaborations with the likes of Black Rain, Ancient Methods, Dax J, I Hate Models and Infravision. As the sole custodian of Fleisch Records she spent many years attuning herself to Berlin dancefloors through the timely collision of techno and electronic body music, but her true passion is for understanding the modality of emotions through songwriting. Sound is her psycho-spiritual catharsis and philosophical exploration of existence, expressed through an intense vocal performance, evocative melodies and heavy rhythmic components. With this signature structure she seeks to reinvent her own brand of ethereal pop: atmospheric, multi-layered and as alien as it is authentically, vulnerably human.

In the follow-up to 2023 Chrysalis, Zanias returns with her lastest album called Ecdysis, released on Metropolis Records and Fleisch Records. Named after the final stage of emergence from a former self, Ecdysis lays claim to an entirely new electronic soundscape influenced by the ethereal pioneering of Dead Can Dance, Enya and Fever Ray. Zanias's voice morphs deftly between species and gender, exemplifying the oneness of conscious experience evoked by the more extreme psychedelic states, while the atmosphere is heavily influenced by the Queensland rain forest where much of the recording took place, conjuring an environment rich with biodiversity.

My guest today on The Queen of Wands on ModSnap Radio is Ali Jafri, multi-instrumentalist known for his involvement in various projects - as a member of David J's live band, playing rock-
sitar for Pigface (or through his projects ARIEL, The Gotham City
Drugstore, Saintfield or his solo work and much more.

His newest project is called The Shadow Majilis and his debut album called The Departure. This album has
been Jafri's means to address his grief over losing his seven-year-old son Oisín, who passed away in September 2022 after a nine-month battle with diffuse intrinsic pontine glioma (a highly aggressive form of brain cancer), the dissolution of his
conjugal relationship, and a year-long state of temporary homelessness.

Produced and mixed by three-time Grammy Award winning producer David Bottrill (Peter Gabriel, Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Tool, David Sylvian, Mastodon, Smashing Pumpkins, Muse, Real World Studios), with Darren McGill engineering the album. Mastered by Noah Mintz, the cover art was created
by Stephen Seto (Splintercage). Jafri offers a multi-
cultural artistic and musical vision, together with David J (Bauhaus, Love & Rockets) on bass and drummer-percussionist Rakesh Tewari, also vocalist Olena Tsybulska (DakhaBrakha), guitarist Mark Gemini Thwaite (The Mission, Peter
