Blake Shelton and Riley Green are among the stars you'll see on Thursday's CMT GIANTS: ALABAMA.The songs they'll perform, "Old Flame" for Blake and "Dixieland Delight" for Riley, have been longtime favorites for both artists."I just always felt like 'Old Flame' was just one of the best Alabama songs for me. I just love the melody, I love the harmonies," Blake shares in a press interview. "When I got invited to be a part of this concert, that was the song I instantly thought of.""I was hoping nobody else had already picked that song," he continues. "Once they said, 'Yeah, it's clear, you can do that one,' that's when I called Steve Wariner and I said, 'Man, come do this tribute concert with me and help me recreate these harmonies.'"For Riley, "Dixieland Delight" was like a default option as a proud Jacksonville, Alabama, native."I think I've covered 'Dixieland Delight' at every show for well over a decade now. [It's] very much an anthem in the state of Alabama and I grew up playing in all these, you know, college towns," he tells the press ahead of his performance. "So, it'll be pretty cool, probably a little bit nerve-wracking to play it for the group that made it famous."Other artists honoring Alabama include Jason Aldean, Sam Hunt, Old Dominion, Little Big Town, Jamey Johnson, Pam Tillis and Lorrie Morgan. Kassi Ashton wrote "The Straw" seven years ago, and she's finally released it.The pensive breakup track chronicles a woman's struggle to hang on to a frayed relationship and her eventual decision to end things because she's completely worn out."My back aches, my bones break/ I was the only one willing to change/ Who cares what made it heavy anyway/ The straw," Kassi sings in the chorus."This is the oldest song on the album," she shares in a press statement. "I was at a writing camp, and I had just broken up with my boyfriend and I hadn't seen Lori (McKenna) in a while, so I was telling her about the breakup: 'Well, the straw that broke my back was…' And she goes, 'Oh, I've always wanted to write that…' I just looked at her and started crying. I wrote it right there with Lori and Luke Laird on a baby grand."Kassi further explains the genesis of "The Straw" in an Instagram post."I held onto the song knowing it would be a pillar on my debut album, but not knowing that album would take seven and a half years to come out. There's more than meets the eye to Luke Bryan's seemingly no-frills "Love You, Miss You, Mean It" cover art.Unlike a typical photoshoot, this one took just five minutes to snap, and it features Luke sitting on a seat from a now-defunct historic venue."The funny story about that photo is I was at the Houston Rodeo. I didn't really have any cover art that I liked. So my guy that does all of my social stuff and videos, all my concerts, he [was] at the Houston Rodeo, and he brought a nice camera and we were backstage," Luke recalls to the press. "The original seats out of the Astrodome were in the hallway there, so I just sat in one of the Astrodome seats.""We did like a five-minute [photoshoot and] I did my own makeup for that one," he says.The swift photoshoot has now set the foundation for the "Huntin', Fishin' and Lovin' Every Day" singer."I get so busy out there, we start running behind on photoshoots because nothing's more frustrating than a good fishing day to be at a photoshoot," shares Luke. "So I said, 'That'll be the new template for photoshoots from here on out. We can do a photoshoot a day. I'll do them every day as long as they're ten minutes long.'"

Conner Smith has released his four-track project, Smoky Mountains Sessions. Recorded at Echo Mountain Studios in Asheville, North Carolina, the new collection contains a newly recorded version of his Hailey Whitters-assisted single, "Roulette on the Heart," as well as three tracks he wrote or co-wrote. "These songs came from a real place and were recorded as real as possible. We cut these live, with my band, on the floors of the beautiful Echo Mountain Studio with a stain glass Jesus looking down," shares Conner. "This is the start of me getting back to the heart of what I love, telling stories." Smoky Mountains Sessions arrives after the January release of Conner's debut album, Smoky Mountains. Recording a new album, taping The Voice and balancing life outside work is no easy feat. But Kelsea Ballerini's found her groove, and she's enjoying the ride. "I feel hyper-eager right now, but not eager in a way of, like, more. Just eager in a way of really sustaining the songwriting and making sure that I'm digging my heels into the right things and showing up as much as I can and in the right ways for the right things," Kelsea tells ABC Audio in a recent interview. "I'm really proud of this record," she says. "I'm really proud of doing something like The Voice that is different and new for me, and pushing myself and trying to make sure that I have balance of real life and friendship and relationship and all that outside of it." "I feel like I'm in a good season," Kelsea adds. Kelsea's as-yet-untitled new record, featuring the Noah Kahan-assisted lead single "Cowboys Cry Too," is slated for release later this year. While season 27 of The Voice won't air until spring 2025, the show's already begun taping in Los Angeles. It's no secret that Tyler Hubbard enjoys working out. So some of the important "toys" he has to have on tour are pieces of workout equipment."I usually keep a little workout thing underneath the bus, like some adjustable dumbbells [and] a jump rope. Frisbee is actually [a] really good road toy because it's super light, takes up no space, and provides hours of entertainment," Tyler shares in a press interview. While touring, the "Dancin' in the Country" singer also enjoys bonfire nights."I have a little Solo fire pit that's pretty easy. We take that and set it up after the shows, and sometimes I'll put firewood on the rider and it'll show up, and we'll just have a little fire and hang out," says Tyler.There's a limit, however, to the number of toys that he can take on the road."At least last year, that's what it looked like.
